Never been to Neyland

I'm 45 and enjoy messing with people.
It brings me joy. The paint chip thing gave me a big smile.

I once played in a game where we were favored by 35.
I threw up before that game and every other game I played in.

I get just as fired up now as when I played. I admit I'm unusuall but I can't be the only one who feels that way.

You got a like...good post!

I'm 24 and never been to Neyland or seen UT play a game. Feels real bad man. I've lived in Colorado since I was 6. I am moving back to Memphis soon so hopefully this is the year. How should I feel about this?

It'll move you! Just based on the attitude you have here tells me you won't be disappointed on your first visit. If I'm being perfectly honest it doesn't matter which opposing team we're playing, even Austin Peay, you get a sufficient turnout. The energy you get from the crowd and the 90,000+ people singing "Rocky Top, you'll always be.." is just amazing.

That gave me chills. I think this will happen....I go to my first game, which is bama and we win dramatically late in the forth. Then at the end of the game while I am euphoric, I meet a 5'6" 117lbs southern girl, dirty blonde, hot. Thats how I picture Neyland.

Hopefully the Vols score on the field and you score off the field! Good luck!

Git U Sum !!

I was in the 1st grade, when my dad took me to my 1st game in 1957. I was lucky enough to be able to get season tickets after I graduated. I've taken my kids and I started taking each of my grandkids to a game every year when they turned 5. Now, every year, they ask me when are we going.

Even after all these years, ain't nothing like Football Time in Tennessee inside Neyland.

As an old VOL, I'm very excited for you. They'll come a time when some of us won't be able to make the trip. We need new blood in the stands with the passion that you seem to have.

I moved to Knoxville in 1997, the following year started dating a girl who's dad owns an entire row of season tickets.. went to 4 games that year.. 1998, have been hooked ever since.. btw married that girl :) 14 years of marriage, 3 kids... still loving those season tickets :p

P.S. The feeling inside the stadium is unlike any other stadium I have ever been to. And I am from New York.. seen multiple events/concerts inside Madison square garden.. Been to Yankee playoff games, when they were dominating the sport.. None of that even comes close to Neyland on a Saturday in the fall.

Nothing beats game day. If you've never been, you will spend a lot of time walking around to check everything out.

I wish I could remember my first Neyland. I was only 3 years old though. You really can't try to imagine it or put it into words though. It's that special

My 1st game was in 1980 vs UGA and H Walker.

Same here in Neyland. I did see Condrege play in Memphis at Liberty Bowl stadium (Ole Miss I think)...made the trip to the Houston Astro-Bluebonnet bowl at 16 years old when we lost to Purdue...and was at the Liberty Bowl when we beat Minnesota and got to hear Lee Greenwood sing "From the Lakes of Minnesota...to the Hills of Tennessee" in "Proud to be an American."

These are just a few memories you can make Nationdom. My advice is to make them as frequent as you possibly can because just as there are many that will leave you feeling sick at your stomach...there are those times when you will have the chance to see the event of a lifetime.

I've done a lot of games at Neyland since then with the last being the rocking atmosphere of the Georgia game. You gotta say you've been there/done that if you truly are a Vol.

Okay...so I retract that last statement. You can be a Vol in BFE. Vol is a state of mind.
