Never ceases to amaze me

After a loss to the #4 team in the country with one of the youngest teams we've had. Vol fans continue to bash the coaches, and talk down on the players.

We are clearly improving talent wise, we've got a staff that accepts nothing but the best and we haven't had that in a while

Here's something to be positive about, the SEC East is wide open people. UGA, USCe, and Florida are beatable teams versus we knew what we were getting into against Oklahoma. And, our guys played their tail off. We will, one day, be able to go toe to toe with teams like them, but right now we have to accept reality.

We've got a bye week, we'll regroup and come out swinging when we play the Bulldogs next Saturday, believe that.

excuses.

Can this please be the last & sole thread for the "If you question anything about the Vols, you're not a fan, you're stupid, and you should go root for the other team" posters? We get guys. You are the brilliant ones & everyone else is lame for using a message board to discuss their thoughts on the team...

I don't think this is a high and mighty approach. It is utterly annoying and even more so foolish that people think they should just use social media at the first sign of something not going the way they want.

This staff is really just getting started to clean up the mess made by previously incompetent people. I, for one, don't care what anybody on this board thinks of me so bash away. I just would like to see a little more positivity as I do with any difficult situation.

man, you need to get out of ohio. It's not possible to live where I am and be so bitter all the time. But I don't recall ever meeting a happy person from ohio, now that I think about it.

The only suspect play call that I could really see was after Hurd got us down to the OU 18 yard line, they called a pass play that was busted and Worley ran to the OU 2 or 3 yard line. We then go 5 wide and try to run another pass play when two runs are what got us there. I would have lined up goal line set and ran it in. But I have the luxury of knowing that the pass was an INT and returned for a TD. So I'm sure he would now run the ball too.

This coaching staff is doing a great job at calling our games so far. That was just one play that I can see that should not have been called IMO.

i'm not bitter bro just not as positive on the vols as you are. that being said you are right about ohio it sucks. my mom and dad are both sick and needed somebody close to take care of them. my brother refused, even though he lives 5miles away from them. so i was forced to move from sevierville back to the hole. i grew up here and besides the fishing really don't like much else, especially buckeye fans.lol

I've seen very little negativity towards last Sat. My only concern is some play calling, esp passing on their 2 when Hurd was bulling thru them. We passed & OU ran it back 100 yds for a TD. Game!

I don't see it where OP said that "you should go root for the other team" Isn't he discussing his thoughts. you sir are the one who is telling him to stop from sharing his views!! So, you are negating your own statement!

i agree with this. i'll add one more though the blown coverage when OU running back was completely wide open. that should never happen.

fair enough. Sorry about your parents. It's not that I'm overly positive, just that constant negativity isn't good for the soul man. That's all. I see it drown people.
We were at #4 and possible national champ early in yr 2 of rebuilding. Nothing to be down about in regards to the game. The OL will get better. There is no way to go but up.
Do you realize we had a true freshman rg who just switched to OL, next to another true freshman OT, with a true freshman TE on his back hip and true freshman rb in the backfield? At OK? True freshman aren't even supposed to be on the field in a game like that, and our teenagers are trying to block men that will be in the NFL next year. Learning experience for both players and coaches and both will get better from it.
Just not sure when.

My irritation for the game against Oklahoma are the one questioning play calls. If you want to question the scheme and stuff, that's a different story.

But to question play calling against Oklahoma is ridiculous imo. What do you want OC to do when you can't run the ball or protect for a pass that takes more than one second to develop (literally)? Call screens? Well that wasn't working either.

Puts the OC in a tight spot

I've read the OP several times and don't recall seeing anyone was accused of not being a fan, that anyone was stupid or that anyone should go root for another team. Take it personally?

Then you, along with a lot of other people don't understand the definition of FANATIC.

It's not as if Tennessee is any different than any fan base.

This team is better than I thought. They fought hard and never quit, but the coaches and players do not get a full pass on everything. When there is a legitimate criticism they should be called out on it. O line is bad right now, Croom is still bad and 3rd down inside their 5 should not be 5 wide with a QB who is not mobile.

It never ceases to amaze me that we always have to have some one like you to talk down to the board. I don't see anyone blaming the coaches or players for anything. Does it make you feel better about yourself thinking you are standing on a higher moral ground? Most of us know the deal with the football program. Quit acting like the local authority.:whatever:

Bravo!

I think we were a few plays from making it a game. That fumble/no fumble was a very questionable call. I don't see how a ball that is moving and the carrier still moving not to be a fumble. The pass to Croom in the endzone. He is too big for a 5'9 guy to out muscle him. I am sure he feels as bad as any of us do about it today though. The pick 6. That call still baffles me. I am chalking that up to Worley getting his eyeballs fd in all night long by Striker. Poor decision to throw that one. All in all I am pretty happy with how we played. I am upset with the outcome.

I was at the game so didn't get this info until later. But, I was told that he was TKjr's man. The coaches chewed him out and apparently didn't play much after that. I did notice McNeil in the game alot later on. That is going to happen when you are playing tons of freshmen.

The play call at the 4 yard line was on the coaches.

I was speaking to the forum at large where these have been consistent themes. And I didnt say he couldn't share his thoughts. I, in fact, asked that we have a sole thread for y'all to discuss why others are stupid, etc for daring to second guess the scheme, play calling, etc.

Butch Jones has done wonders for this team. Honestly if Dooley would've recruited more P-Linemen, gave Worley some time on saturday, then that game would of been a lot closer. Stoops knew this and blitzed on basically every play. Worley was beaten up more than (Insert Ray Rice joke here). My point is if we can develop this O-Line with the bye week, we could have a great shot against UGA.

I agree, I think most are just tired of "having to live in reality". It's been a 6-8 yr ordeal and patience is gone. Most probably don't even believe the things they say, it's just a mechanism for dealing with frustration and lack of patience.
