New Arizona Immigration Law

it's been said plenty of places, but it's prolly going to take a devastating attack on our country for us to wake up to the fact that we have to actively protect and strengthen it ...
i guess 9/11 wasn't big enough??? People in this country know civil rights are extremely important, and just because somebody in a race screws up doesn't give you the right to target another innocent one in that same race.

One other question.

If we are both to ignorant to understand the constitution, could we agree that the law on the books that being here illegally is a crime is constitutional?

So if they are criminals, should the be apprehended?
yeah, we agree with that... it's just the means of getting it done that we disagree on

So you have a problem with the authorities suspecting a possible illegal after he has been arrested for another crime?

At this point (outside of my ignorance) this law is the basically the same federal law we have. Just now the state of Arizona is gonna protect its citizens. When the federal law will not.

Don't have an issue with that either.
The issue comes into play that legal hispanics will be targeted more than any other legal ethnic group in this country.

but done debating this issue since it's just a big circle on both sides.... will only comment now when the courts decide or new lawsuits are filed.

Is that the issue? Have not seen that it the bill.

If any of this does get stricken - and I doubt it will - it won't be the entire law. Most likely, it'll be that the asking for papers without cause will go. At which point, they'll simply amend it to say that such can only occur when police have probable cause to do so, such as in the course of a traffic stop, investigation, etc. Thereafter, they'll roll a revised version out, and it'll do that which it was intended, it will just take a little longer.

To think that it's going to be eradicated is equal parts wishful thinking and foolishness.

I do think that the US Supreme Court will reach down and take this, greatly expediting the process and a verdict.

For all of those liberals who think that taking this to the courts is going to win the day, I have six words which should give you some pause:

Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts

sorry, just have common sense...

we used to have separate but equal in this country... as it was written, everything was supposed to be separate but equal for all races...

in reality, was it that way????? ummmmmmmm, no... use common sense and get out of your naive mindset.

Now I'm done, lol

If immigration were a problem on the other border I would have absolutely no problem producing my ID on demand, without cause, just because I look like a Canadian. I would be willing to bet if this were the scenario it wouldn't even be an issue with everybody and would have been passed long ago.

I don't mind producing ID, because....wait for it.....I'm not doing anything wrong and I am here legally.

Typical response.

Basically as I stated before, your not for any law that would deport or deprive illegals from being here, and or leaving our country (which is the same stance of your party, and a small part of the right). You really don't care about "Civil Rights" or you would be all over innocent, legal US citizens dying with in our border, at the hands of your illegal friends. And that doesn't even touch drugs, free healthcare, welfare, and food stamps, among others.

Your "Civil Rights" cry has bounced all over the map, mainly because you had no idea (and or did not care) what was in the bill. Basically due to what I posted above. Thus your argument from "Dragging Hispanics through the streets" to "Its not right to ask a legal, criminal if he's a citizen or not."

Don't feel bad Cash, your naive leader hasn't figured it out either.

Can't believe that you (the OP) are still holding on to your claim that civil rights are being threatened in this law. Have you even read the entire law? Please point out in the specifics of the law where any rights will be threatened other than illegal, law breaking individuals.

It has nothing to do with "Civil Rights", because as he has found out now, they are not being violated as he suspected.

Its about 20 million illegals becoming legal, and leaving the border open. And this is a speed bump to that process.

I love the precedent this sets. By Arizona's theory, states can now supercede the federal government on issues they have no real business addressing. I can't wait for Nebraska to start coining money and Rhode Island to start negotiating treaties with Mexico. Awesome idea.

Immigration may not be a states issue, but it affects Arizona more than almost any other state, and no one seems to care enough to help them out.

I heard a cop, border agent not sure which it was, say today, that it has turned into a crime problem. Which causes the state a problem.

The violence problem could easily be squelched, but the imbeciles in D.C. are too stupid to figure it out.

Does that mean if a state has a higher than average percentage of its population in the military, that state's governor should be able to have a moratorium on his citizens being inducted until the other states "care" enough to send their faire share of soldiers?

What? If the people are choosing to be in the military, why is there a problem?

Either way, I don't really think that's the same thing.

Yeah, I hate when history gets in the way of my arguments too.

but keep up living a sheltered life in the county west of me... keep pretending illegal profiling doesn't happen on a daily basis, and yet, somehow this bill will be different.
