yeah, lets copy something a wanna be school is already doing. That's being a leader.

that's far more exciting than anything that's happened in Neyland in the last 5 years (except the SC win) and that happens every single game

this before kickoff would be far more deafening, and we don't sing Rocky Top right before kickoff anyway. The band finishes playing Fight, Vols, Fight and Down the Field, then marches off the field and there's just music over the speakers until football time in Tennessee.

So, no. Rocky Top doesn't work "just fine" right there.

Im big on tradition, as long as it doesn't take the place of something besides the speakers, im cool with it.

We are a leader, not a follower. Act like you've been there not wanting to be there.

The chant is fine, looks fun, etc.... but its theirs not ours. Vols don't copy - others copy us.

Sorry but I have a whole lot of pride in the program to be reduced to the level of mid major appearing to be desperate. Whether Neyland is dead or not, we do not sing Dixie, Rammer Jammer, or some chant that Utah State and a soccer team does. If that's my fault then crucify me as a true Vol, not a wanna be Vol.

The great thing about this chant is that it's completely on the fans to create a buzz in the stadium. Most of the excitement that happens in Neyland first requires a great play by the team. If there was some sort of chant the fans could do to show the team support that isn't conditional upon the action on the field, it'd probably be appreciated more by the players.

I read up on this and it actually originated at a Navy football game in the early 2000s against Air Force. I'm alright with adopting something that started at Navy.

inb4 army guys say hell no

Unfortunately, Team USA has as hard a schedule as the Vols do this year. The group they are in is murderous.

Amen, brother. I cringe when I see soccer fans here in the U.S. trying to emulate the dress and behavior of European "football" fans. I wouldn't be surprised if we eventually see hooliganism here, because they seem determined to adopt everything about the game from Europe, instead of appreciating the game and putting their own American stamp on it.

I went to a Japanese baseball game in Yokohama. It was essentially the same game. But by far the best part was seeing the differences. The types of cheering and fan participation were distinctly different than at American games. The Japanese guy sitting next to me even seemed apologetic that it wasn't more like MLB in the states. But I told him that was the best part. They made it their own.

So enjoy soccer if you want to. But do it our own way. And let's guard against the Europeanization of American football.

Go Vols!

This chant originated at a Navy football game. The KC soccer fans adopted it after Utah State did. From there, it was adopted by US Soccer fans.

so.

I just want to hear "We own Alabama" sung to the tune of that nasty song "sweet home Alabama"

There was a version sang on the strip in the 90's that was fun but can't be posted due to explicit lyrics.
