New Coaching Search???

I think it goes a little deeper than that...we were down by 1pt with 1 second on the shot clock...Rennia receives the inbound pass, puts the ball on the floor before she takes the shot [shot clock expires]...the thing that stood out about that play, is that Rennia seemed confused about the shot clock...[THAT'S COACHING]...the ball must go towards the basket immediately, even if it's a hale-merry shot...🤔

I posted about this in The GA game thread. Agreed, I also went into detail about the last play. Ive seen these issues for years.. It is coaching,..

One never knows until a significant, serious feeler is put out to current coaches, as the allure of one the very best coaching seats in WCBB, with marvelous facilities, great fan base, still excellent recruiting name plus chance to turn around this program could poach a seemingly "un-gettable" coach. Some thoughts, four current or one sabbatical coaches and two future potential coaches:

-- Wes Moore/ NCST (previously Chattanooga)
-- Matthew Mitchell/ UK (prior was a Tenn asst. grad)
-- Dawn Staley/ SC (previous Temple)
-- Brenda Frese/ MD (prior MN, etc.)
-- Gail Goestenkfors/ sabbatical (prior Texas - ignore, Duke - very good)
-- Becky Hammon
-- Kara Lawson

The coaches have either long-term very good W-L records with much less talent than Warlick has been given or would typically still want to come to Tenn, or have shown better capability getting to the FF with less talent, and some have extensive recruiting connections along the east coast and into the southeast, or SEC background. At this point, Tenn is likely still one of the 5 best, high-profile, and legendary coaching seats. If Fulmer sends out a serious recruiter to quietly talk to some of these folks, there could be surprise. Of course, each has drawback(s), but versus the current situation of hoping to get to the EE and hope to be a top SEC contender, why not set up for the long-term future while the Lady Vols program is still a premier program with legendary WCBB status and sterling reputation.

I want to have someone explain to me what offense we run. So many 1 on 1 plays and never finishing. Street ball at its finest. Does Holly ever call a play? Do they have a play book? Diamond was not the issue with this team. She had no one that knew how to play the game with her i am now realizing.

Its Called Bird Box 😎🙈

Rennia looked downright miserable during the press conference after yesterday's loss. Or it could be her default body language, but she doesn't seem to be a happy camper, and it's showing in her play on the court.
This is a terrible thing I am seeing as well...we may lose her after this season...😟

According to this article, Wes Moore is making $460,000 annually. He's the first I'd make say no.

NC State, Gottfried agree to new contract

Not a damn thing. It's unsettling how many of our fans aren't smarter than this...

She led team usa to 3 on 3 gold . Real fans would know that. Coaching high schoolers is no easy task. She even coached Sabrina Inoescu , Erin boley , Christyn Williams , Paige Beuckers ect.

Remove the men...a man is not taking over Pats program

Jeff Walz or Brenda Friese hahahahahahaha

The blue hairs would burn down the program before letting either one of them take over. They absolutely despise these two.

I’d say Gail Goestenkors is as good as you can get and after that it goes wasaaay down

Actually, if you are talking about the Ionescu, Boley, Hebard, Gildon 3x3 team coached by Lawson, they won the US title but didn't win gold at the World Championship. They did, however, do much better than their seeding (they were undefeated in their group and made the quarterfinals) and were, by far, the youngest team in the tournament. (The Italian team that ousted them was composed of players in their late 20s and early 30s.). Of the 4 US players, only Boley had played 3x3 basketball prior to the US tournament, so, yes, Kara seems to have done a good job with a very inexperienced and young team.

i didn't like Phil's extension, but figured he was doing it as a newly minted AD. But now Holly's body of work continues to tell it like it is. Phil cannot let this stand. The LV BB program has been a cornerstone of UT athletics for many years, a nationally prominent one at that. I hope it hasn't slipped beyond recovery but, if not, it's close. Phil needs to take corrective measures this year. Time to be the AD again ..... and that involves much more than just football. No amount of time is going to make Holly an elite coach, or even a good coach developing elite players.

For 7yrs??? Unless Fulmer is sharing Holly's salary with Holly, nothing else to think of when someone who calls himself Ad can sit back and allow million dollar program to diminish, he has hands into her salary and I need inside investigation.

Kinda like people who wanted Payton as the football coach, i like both but you just don't come in as the head coach with no experience at a major College program.

I do agree the preseason non-conference schedule has become much weaker under Warlick and it is a way to rack up "easy" wins. Really the last thing needed with a boring product but helps keep her job by arguing she wins a lot.

And some of those "cupcakes" weren't easy wins.

Hasn't Lawson stated on several occasions that she has no interest in coaching?

No way would Walz leave Louisville, a very successful program that he has built. Besides, his current salary is $1.15 mil plus a possible performance bonus of another $250K. In order to get Walz UT would have to go well beyond that.

The same argument is true for Staley. She is very well paid and coaches a very successful program that she built. When you think USC WCBB Staley's name immediately comes to mind just as Pat Summitt's did when she coached UT.

I'll nominate teacherdean for now. A well known poster here, since 2014, in the LV threads.
Then after that, I'll nominate all the know-it-all armchair posters (including myself) that post on a regular basis in the LV basketball threads each game because we posters know how it feels to be in a constant hot-seat situation in every game each week. Armchair posters in the LV basketball forum we know everything a lot better for the team than the actual head coach that's been coaching the team for 8 years now. Armchair posters like me know everything there is to know about coaching & being a competitive HC in an SEC college women's basketball game each week & we know when to call TOs at just the right time & we know how to draw up critical plays at just the right time to win close games along with what subs need to come & go at the right time to win games.

I don't know, but it looks like she is self-firing at the moment. #1 recruiting class entering last year, #2 recruit class entering this year with negative results. You can only blame the players so long. The program is wasting valuable talent every season.

While folks on these forums may not know "everything there is to know about coaching," Pat Summitt's 30 years of coaching did kind of show most of 'em what good team basketball that's nationally competitive looks like. Not to mention what teams who hustle and compete on every possession look like. Oh, and how to get to the Final Four. You know. A lot. Just some of those things UT used to do back in the day. *shrug*
