New DOJ Office of Environmental Justice

I mean, can the Biden administration create yet another useless department for hiring useless woke activists that does absolutely nothing for actual Americans while ignoring real problems? WHY YES, IT CERTAINLY CAN!

The Justice Department announced Thursday it is taking a “series of actions to secure environmental justice for all Americans.”

It includes a new office that will prioritize environmental justice and the climate crisis.

Attorney General Merrick Garland wrote in a statement, “Although violations of our environmental laws can happen anywhere, communities of color, indigenous communities, and low-income communities often bear the brunt of the harm caused by environmental crime, pollution, and climate change.”

Garland said the department will prioritize cases that will create the greatest impact on communities “most overburdened by environmental harm.”

As you can see, the fires of justice burn bright in recently hired agents of the newly constituted Office of Environmental Justice - POLUTERS EVERYWHERE BEWARE!

Its about time too, as at a US border, trash continues to pile up from illegals pouring over. I'm glad this is clearly going to be a priority now! Take that illegals! The DOJ is on you now for littering!

So, are you ready to get rid of GWB's Dept. of Homeland Security?

I consider myself a conservative / libertarian.

I don't know enough about this new office to have an opinion, but I know a little about environmental justice.

Take a look into the mercury pollution of Poplar Creek in Oak Ridge and the history of the Scarboro community. That is a documented historical instance of the US govt polluting a creek that flows directly into a segregated community. It is still polluted to this day.

How should that be dealt with? Is the status quo good enough?

Look, I am not woke, but I am also not blind.

Biden is nothing but a corrupt politician, but even a blind squirrel finds a nut every once in a while.
We are also currently spending billions to clean that area and other areas like it up.

Jimmy Carter is Joe Biden's biggest fan. He never imagined anyone could make him look so competent by comparison.

This is purposefully done. This is not incompetence. Why do you guys think he's not competent? His staff is doing this and he signs it. He doesn't know or care what he signs. This dept will be another way that corporations will habe to pay the new-communist to be allow to do business.

I have been keeping up with the Environmental movement since the 80s. This is an effort they make from time to time when white liberals start to lose interest in the environment and fundraising and energy begin to lag. It is basically a cynical attempt to use the accumulated grievances of the minority community against a new enemy. Saw a lot of attempts to do this during the Bush Sr years. It was an early attempt at what we now call intersectionality. It is parasitic and frankly disgusting.

That's the dem party for you.

Communism is a political and economic ideology that positions itself in opposition to liberal democracy and capitalism, advocating instead for a classless system in which the means of production are owned communally and private property is nonexistent or severely curtailed.
(What Is Communism?)

Please use the word right.

I get what you are saying. But would you not agree that the current American left’s myopic focus on establishing „equity“ to the exclusion of all our previous emphasis on individual achievement and personal responsibility has at least some disconcerting historical echos from Marxist theory? Just replace class with intersectional oppressed groups and it sounds disturbingly familiar some times. Not that the left is there yet; but if the left can be concerned about possible authoritarian traits in the right, it only seems prudent that the right be able to point out possible Marxist tendencies from the left. In stressful times, each political extreme starts to pine for its ultimate mother ship.

I believe there is merit to what you are saying. I'm just frustrated with the lingual slop that has all the mental capacity of late-stage Ronald Reagan playing madlibs. Or Joe Biden, depending on what makes you happy.

Imagine what it feels like to constantly be called a racist bigoted Nazi just because you prefer to vote for Constitutionally limited government 😬.
Yes, labels are slung around far too indiscriminately.
BTW, listened to Shostakovich Number 8 last night for the first time in decades later night. Now THAT helped me understand what suffering under ACTUAL communists must have been like. Wow. That was some searing music

Or being called a liberal because you work in the wrong profession. I get you, bro!

Yeah. Man. Shostakovich was a master of neoclassical composition. And yes, the pathos of his love for Mother Russia and his hatred of the Soviet government oozes from so many of his works. I can only imagine what it was like to be under constant watch for not conforming to the prescribed nationalist rules.

At some point we should discuss the effect Soviet Bloc expansion had on the music of Eastern Europe. The government claimed to want to preserve and honor the overtaken indigenous cultures but intentionally destroyed them in the process.

Sounds fun. Most of my knowledge of Eastern European music is pre modern with the basics of Smetna and Dvorak.
One thing I loved about Shostakovich was that he basically spent his entire career openly insulting his Soviet masters but they were too stupid to realize it (or he was too clever, but same result 😂)

The communist philosophy is that the state, (or fed gov in this case) controls all aspects of every citizens' life and and any freedom granted is by their permission. They are the highest form of authority, this is no God higher than them. That is the belief of your party.

I was uncomfortable with it then as I am now and as I was equally uncomfortable with the Patriot Act. While we did need an increased emphasis on seeking out terror cells, I have always been very leery of breaking the Chinese wall between foreign and domestic operations. While DHS would seem to be only domestic, the reality is far different. Just because we lauded killing scumbags who wanted to kill us, did not mean that we wanted to permanently give up civil liberties to deal with a temporary safety issue.

I know that, you know that; @happy-go_vol doesn't have the chops to deal with non-binary subjects and somehow still thinks intentional mislabeling is a viable form of insult.

It's the truth. dems are to the point that calling them a marxist or a communist is a badge of honor. So I don't believe you guys arent insulted by that label.

When the Republicans win back the White House in 2024, they're going to have no problem cutting the crap out of federal spending simply by completely eliminating all these worthless federal departments (including the Department of Education and the CDC) and returning all these incompetent, liberal activists to the streets.

You mean like they reduced spending last time. lmao. You guys complained about Obama's spending for 8 years and you sent a guy who made him look like a penny pincher.

Yup, they ALL spend worse than drunken sailors. That’s why we need to deal with the problem at its roots. Repeal the 16th Amendment. Replace it with 10% federal sales tax and cap it there. Make the government live within its means no matter who is Running it at the moment

How many times do I have to tell you that you're mislabeling me?
