New GOP Public Enemy No. 1: Taylor Swift

Don't much care for the artsy-craftsy, yes? lol
How did you come to that conclusion? I love artists, and I listen to almost every genre of music, depending on my mood or activity. Like I said, I play, sing, and write. I've played on stage and with bands.

However, I don't turn to musicians or celebrities for answers to questions or issues on politics, the economy, world affairs, etc. I don't expect lawmakers to entertain me or write good music, either.

For those wondering, Taylor Swift is #102 on the Rolling Stone list.
I don't mind T. Swift, but she's ranked too high. Ella Fitzgerald and Etta James should both be ranked much higher than they are.

I love Aretha Franklin, but Sam Cooke should be #1.

No way should Sam Cooke be #1. Arguably top 20, but definitely not top 3.

Nat King Cole wasn't even in the top 200. I wondered why. I did some digging and found that he would play to all-white audiences. In contrast, Sam Cooke was politically active.

I think it's ridiculous to bring ones current politics into music rankings.

Nat King Cole had a voice like liquid honey. Effortlessly handsomely beautiful.

It's pretty stupid to try to apply today's sensibilities to the past in general

He had a deep, rich, iconic voice, but if I can sing your ****, then you weren't doing anything difficult. I can barely carry a tune but I can sing Sinatra, Cash, NKC, etc. all OK.

You wanna hear the worst sound ever? Me singing Sam Cooke songs. Because that **** is hard.

Music can have a galvanizing way of bringing people together regardless of political beliefs. Even if a performer unnecessarily brings politics for a minute in a performance, it is soon forgotten when the playing begins again
