New rumors about Da'rick to Tenn Tech (confirmed)

What a waste of talent. We seem to get all the 5 star problem kids. 5 star players with 1 star brains. He went from possible 1st round and a fat contract to 2 or 3rd round money.

He still has to make it through the season at Tech. There's no guarantee he will, and there's also no guarantee he's going to do any conditioning there, after seeing the Ron McKeefery saga with him.

If he thought Knoxville was boring wait until he hangs out in Cookeville for a while. I'd say odds of him making it through a season there without incident are very low.

Im probably the only one but I hopes he gets his attitude right and turn his career around. Will be such a waste

No, you're not. I was a major fan of his and looking forward to see him play again. But at some point enough is enough. My fear now is that by going to TTech, he is obviously a big fish in a small pond. The coach whose team came close to winning it all last year will be thrilled with this "gift." So much so that DR will be allowed to do whatever he wants and make life hell for a team that doesn't even know what hell is. In effect ruining a nice bunch of kids. I want nothing more than to be dead wrong. To see him straighten up there and fly right. At this point, I have my doubts yet harbor hope that he turns things around. I do wonder why he opted to stay in the state of Tennessee, though. Probably realized a major college so close to opening the season wouldn't risk a known liability. Whereas a little school may feel it has nothing to lose and give him a try. Just speculation on my part.

The bitter hatefulness we see in some posters here actually makes them Da'Rickesque. Their character is revealed and I'd bet you about 90% considered themselves Christians. Their venom marks them as anything but. . . . A good riddance and good luck as opposed to a snivel up and die attitude is all we need. He didn't commit a murder, rape a pony, or dynamite the Golden Gate Bridge. But one thing is clear, it was time for him to go. Had probably been time for a while. Now, he's gone. We can focus on those fine young men in orange now and root like heck for them.

Dumb-Rick was/is a big time talent; there is no denying that; but he is also a big time pain in the arse, "I"/"Me" type guy and in the end NOT someone you want on your team especially now that he has shown his "cheating heart". We are just fortunate this didnt happen midseason. Buh-Bye PUNK.

For all of you saying Da'Rick wasn't any good you are nuts. He was good and the best receiver we had. Even our coach said so. This will hurt no matter how you look at it production wise. Probably a good thing for the team, and for Da'Rick. I hope he gets his act together and walks a tight rope.
I enjoyed watching him play and will miss seeing 21 on the sidelines. But I wish the young man good luck in his future. No one knows what went on inside the program, so for some of you guys to make ignorant statements you are no better then Da'Rick. Read how our fan base attacks players,it may be no wonder why we don't get more high quality athletes. And before any of you confuse my post for blaming fans your idiots. That's not what I'm saying. Da'Rick made his bed and now he shall lay in it. It's not like he screwed our lives up. Think about that for a second.....

I know that there have been lots of adults that have been involved with DR. Some have been self serving, while others have truly tried to help him.
Its tough when you are Ultra Talented in Middle School and High School and Coaches/Teachers/Supporters/Parents/etc. look the other way or cover up mistakes, to keep them on the field.

I am so very impressed when I see a Parent/etc. etc. hold a player accountable regardless of talent. (Thank you MzTerry)

I (like many of you) see both sides. We so often, in many aspects of our lives, think about short term results vs. long term consequences.

wow,,,,, that sounds like a sermon topic.
Can I get an Amen?!?

I see no reason not to wish for the best for Da'Rick. He won the genetic lottery, and he seems pretty intelligent, but he obviously has some weird things going on in his head. Hopefully he will straighten out and get his eventual payday.

From the insiders in CookVegas, I heard this one at 8:00 last night. Must not be anything to the story, or it would have already been posted here? :zeitung_lesen:

"cancer" or not, he was the most exciting player to watch on the team.

Disagree 100%. Justin Hunter is the most exciting along with Tyler Bray. DR had a break out year when he was the only target Bray had. Of course he's going to have huge numbers compared to the others. CP has the same or more talent than DR and HE WANTS TO BE THERE. Don't overlook out talented WR's. I think they will still be a special group. Go Big Orange!!

I think this is worth keeping in mind. It's hard to compare who is more talented when Rogers was the only receiver getting a full season of playing time. We may still be getting the best 2 of the 3, provided someone steps up to fill the role of occupying the middle of the field (which means someone needs to get a voodoo doctor to break the hex on the TE position, but hey).

Man, I know everybody is disappointed in Rogers, but I hope that after some time passes that everybody will realize that he is a VFL and should be afforded the compassion that goes with that title. He clearly has some issues, but there is no reason to bash the kid. We all make mistakes and hopefully he can learn from them.

What everybody should remember is that he could have gone to any school, but he took a chance and came here. His commitment provided some much needed publicity and his presence over the last couple of years has probably helped to attract a couple of recruits who may not have come otherwise.

Of course that came with some baggage and in the end it didn't work out. We all wish it would have ended differently, but it is what it is. I hope that he does well. I have no desire to bash him or wish him anything but the best of luck. He is a great player and I will look forward to seeing him at the next level.

He is not a VFL in my book. I harbor no ill will toward the guy, but I don't care where his career takes him at this point. I'm worried about the guys still giving their all for the O&W.

i'm more ready to hit him than get his autograph

If he had done something to your mom, dad, or sibling, I'd understand you. But since that didn't happen, you're being ridiculous. However, I wouldn't ask for his autograph either. But then I never do. Have been in pinky finger length distance from Clint Eastwood, the guy who played Marcus Welby M.D., the three actors from the Mod Squad, and actually talked to Ara Parseghian while he was making one of those Ford commercials, and talked very briefly to Raquel Welch and never asked for autographs. However, in fairness about Raquel, I didn't realize who she was. Until my college friends ran up excitedly asking me how I knew Raquel Welch. All I knew was some chick had asked me where the new campus library was. Anyway, I'd not ask DR for his autograph either but rather than spite it would be because I never hassle celebs for an autograph.

stuff like dragging honey badger down the field, vandy catch, and that cincy catch where 2 people slammed into him and he came up smiling. Big plays like that are why I think he's the most exciting

And don't forget the Cincy players could barely get up off the ground after the slamming.

Some of you amaze me. DR is not a Vol anymore because HE is a prim donna dumba$$. Flame me all you want but I hope he ends up as a secondhand circus elephant dung scooper.

If you are not VFL then you are dead to me!

I am not going to bash him but sorry, he is NOT a VFL any more than any of the other flame outs that have come through here. He can go be an E(agle)FL. He made choices that brought negative publicity to our football program and his actions have hurt the team. I wish he would have have kept his original pledge to UGA.

I think he is just a head case.

obviously, or else he wouldn't have transferred...

We don't know what transpired to get to the point that we are at now. He messed up and UT had to cut him loose and at that point, DR had to figure something out.

Just a week ago, he was talking about how nobody could cover the WRs so I don't think that he thought he would get cut, but he learned a hard lesson.

Honestly, I think that it will turn out ok for him. Tech is a good school and the coaches probably laid the rules down for him and will have him on a short leash.
