NYE in Times Square would have been cool to do once in my 20s like Mardi Gras.

Did it 1999 eve of 2000.

Stood there from 8am till 12:05. Drink cups became piss cups. 2 minutes after the ball dropped cops on horses dispersed the crowd. I pissed in an ally. It was anti-climactic as hell.

About the same year we all boo’d 98 degrees during the thanksgiving parade so loud it got caught on camera and he just shrugged. I kinda felt bad but damn they sucked.

Buddy went to merchant marine academy in great neck. New York was awesome in the 90s. Sad what it’s become.

It is speculative for sure. But man, what a target. I believe it's one of those eventual attacks. A shooter, multiple bombers, etc.

There are plenty of large gatherings of people to attack that don't have half the NYPD watching for even a hint of anything suspicious

It's not only about large gathering. What the gathering are, exposure, etc. Every large gathering in a crowded area is a potential target. Doesn't mean you shouldn't leave your house of course, but it is a high profile target.

It’s not just police presence, it would be impossible to get a truck that close to time square. Any attack there would likely be a small scale attack. I guess maybe multiple shooters or flying in a drone but again getting close enough would be problematic

I was merely pointing out to Nash that attacking Times Square in the middle of New Year's festivities would be a terrorists dream. It wouldn't be the easiest thing, but can certainly be done. High profile target like that, everything is on live tv. They'd love that.
