News report: Tebow to petition for draft status

Perhaps, but they are both shining examples of NFL GMs willing to gamble on Tebow-like players by paying ginormous contracts to see if their games will translate to pro football.
no doubt about that. Tebow leads his outfit to a title and someone will pay because he's a "winner."

There's enough "smart" GM's out there (even now that Millen is gone) that will only look at his numbers and how much he's won and think he's a gift from the gods. He'll be a first rounder and play some good games. However, he'll also have some really ugly games and won't be an answer to any NFL team's hope for a superstar QB.

Teams may start to spread it out more since more QBs like this are coming out. The Chiefs are "evolving" their offense to fit Tyler Thigpen. Carl Peterson is one such GM that may draft Tebow if given the chance.

It isn't just his numbers; it is the fact that he will bench press a city bus the combine, throw a ball 112 yards on a rope, run a 4 flat 40, and cause a tackling dummy to implode out of fear, all while wearing a defensive end's uniform and saving Costa Rican children from the evils of demon rum. These skills should translate into a prototypical NFL quarterback plus an added dimension of athleticism that will make John Elway look like a grandmother.

I don't know if he will shine as a pro or not. I do understand why a GM would take the gamble.

tebow will get drafted in the first round by someone. as cotton points out his combine numbers will be completely nuts. who says he has to play QB his entire career?

If the gators go on to win another title this year, what reason if any would tebow have to return for another year? Complete the trifecta?
If florida wins it all, then its likely the end for tebow. I couldn't see him returning for another season. He'll go on the first day, most likely in the first round.

Tebow has more upside than Brady Quinn, in my opinion at least, and Quinn found his way into the first round.

With behavior being such a hot topic, you have to think that he'll go higher just because he has this "golden child" image to him. That's actually worth quite a bit to a lot of GMs. Well, not Jerry Jones.

One thing I wonder about is whether his image and apparently just genuine rooting and intensity are going to wrankle any potential teammates with, shall we say, a more sanguine attitude towards the game.

Can you see Tebow throwing his arms up in the air trying to exhort the likes of Randy Moss or Burres or McNabb to play harder and try harder? They'd either roll their eyes or shoot him. In Burress' case, guess we know the answer.

Prima Donnas like Moss/Burress/Owens are obstinate towards any QB/Coach/Team regardless of the situation unless they're tops of the NFL statistically.

I doubt Tebow would have much problem getting a team to rally around him, to be honest. Far easier than guys like Vince Young, Matt Leinart, etc that have shown a propensity for bad and selfish attitudes.

the dolphins should draft him for their wildcat package :)

Thats the one of the stupid teams that may take a chance on him. Tebow is not a first or second round QB. I see him at TE in the NFL. The teams that may be stupid enough to get him at QB is Miami, Detroit, Oakland, or jacksonville. Imagine him staying home in jacksonville playing for the Jags.

I think the NFL will develop a role for him. What the role might be, I don't know. BUT I do know this, probably about 2-3 years ago everyone on here and everyone else said there is no way he can run 10-15 times against an SEC defense and stay healthy and not get too banged up. Tebow has done that. I think he will play a large role at multiple positions in the NFL because he is so talented and athletic. Just my humble opinion, but what do I know? I'm a Gator.

I agree, I think he will find a niche on a team. I don't know if he'll be a starter, but I could see him being on an NFL roster for a good while as a solid back up or change-up guy or something. I can't imagine him not be useful to one of the teams.

After having listened to a lot of commentators on his slow release, I think the concensus is that he has talent and athleticism, but does need a lot of work on some machanics, and particularly that release. I have to admit for the longest time I could not see that argument but watching him this year and listening to the commentators I think I was wrong on that. He needs work and time.

He may not ever get there, but I do think it would be a mistake to count him out at this point.

I believe I told you that a long time ago.

Really put a damper on his Heisman hopes.
Who said anything about the Heisman? You said he never got banged up and I was just pointing out an example of him getting dinged and it basically costing his team a game because he couldn't be effective running the ball.
