Next 8 games...

I was saying the same thing last year at 9-11. Then, they go 9-3 and beat UF twice. That was reality.

I love all of the sayings to prop up people's feelings about this team and coach. This team may or may not do that again, but it is not beyond reality. Give me a break.

Whatever happens, next year is what will decide whether or not CCM is the long term answer.

Well said.

Will make or break the season. We will be favored in probably 6 of the next 8 games and if we could beat Bama tomorrow at home that'd be a nice start. Say they do that and win 7 of the next 8, well be 16- 9 or go 6 of 8 and be 15-10.

Our losses are against Oklahoma State, Georgetown, Virginia, Memphis, Ole Missx2, Bama and Kentucky...those 8 teams are all good. Bama will likely make the dance, and I'm sure Kentucky will as well...so right now 7/8 losses are against tourney teams. Up to this point we've taken care of the lesser teams, let's see if we can do that the rest of the way.

If they can, 17 or 18 wins is still very possible. Last year we were 9-11 at this point and closed on a 9-3 run. Maybe I'm just too optimistic, but I won't write off the season until it's over.

Bama has a helluva lot of work to do if they're going to make the dance. I don't think UT is even going to sniff the NCAA tourney. I just want to see a team getting better at this point and right now that isn't happening.

Lunardi had Bama as first four out, and that was prior to their win against UK. They've been a tourney team with Steele playing no doubt...the committee will look at that. Right now their RPI is about 50, that's NCAA at large worthy.

As for UT...I don't see it either, like you said I just want to see them keep fighting and improve. Heres the thing, everyone has a chance for an auto bid...the SEC is crazy this year with teams knocking each other off. Florida is the only team I see that I truly think is very good, if they get upset who knows, maybe you make a little run.

Fla and Mizzou are the only ones capable of making noise. Mizzou needs to get healthy.

Bama is like UT last year. Their OOC resume looks pretty bad so they're going to need every win they can get in the SEC to bolster their resume. I hope we can put a dent in it tomorrow. I'm tired of losing to them and Ole Piss when UT has had chances to win.

From what I've seen lately, the pundits don't even have KY making the tourney. They're even less enthusiastic about Bama's chances. They're high only on FL and MS.

The NCAA has to field 68 teams, is the SEC bad? Sure. But they will get in atleast 4 teams if not 5.

Florida, Missouri and Ole Miss are basically locks...Bama and UK seem to be the only 2 competing for a spot as well.

Difference is Bama's RPI is already respectable, in the 50s, UTs was in the high 100s. Also, Bama will benefit from those early losses coming without Ronald Steele. Their resume WITH Steele is very very impressive.

I dont even know what the schedule looks like from here on out, but if we are favored in 6 of the next 8 then the sec sucks even worse than i though.

Bama hopes to steal one @ K'town today. If so, they could go 8-2 over the next 10. I see them as a bubble team right til Selection Sunday.

Will know a lot more about UK next Sunday. After LSU today, they are @Ole Miss Tuesday and @TA&M Saturday. Plus FLx2 and Mizz; could see a "pucker factor" start to develop in Lexington! With @UTK laying in the weeds on 2/16 (after @FL).

Obviously. Suppose we could run the def/off numbers and rank em that way though since that seems reliable.
They're pretty close to the actual conference rankings.
Odds makers have TN by 3. The Poss stats say Bama by 2.6.
Of course they don't allow for home court advantage which will swing this one.

I saw a tweet from someone saying sagarin (iirc) has UT ranked like 58, thought that was interesting.

If golden plays well I like our chances. If I'm CCM I bite the bullet, play golden and hope he wakes up. Without golden this team is going to struggle mightily. I also hate to see Jordan finally playing well and now being asked to do way too much IMO.

Golden has shown the signs.
Really think he's the key the rest of the way.
Needs to get his 30.
Too many TOs without him.

Tennessee can easily win their next six games. Their toughest game will be at Arkansas.

This team can still go 11-7 in conference (they are 1-4, that'd be a 10-3 finish). That would give them a 19-11 (11-7) and be 11-4 in their last fifteen games without even counting any SEC tourney games.

If they can somehow find a way to cut down on TO's, this team can still make the tourney.

That's my thing...and I said it game one. Too many turnovers and too many fouls, we're giving up too many points in those areas. We have other weaknesses, but these are the two easiest ones to fix IMO.

If we can stay south of 12 tunrovers and avoid putting teams into the bonus with more than 10 minutes remaining in a half...we'll win most of our remaining games.

Think I read 18 points off tunrovers for Alabama, we had 21 TOs to their 11. That's about a 10 point difference right there. They also shot 6 more free throws so that's about another 4 points...so just between those 2 is a 14 point swing. Gotta start taking better care of the basketball, should be priority number 1 IMO.

Two home games against teams we should beat. If we can take care of those two, you get a little momentum going. I don't know if 10 SEC wins is enough to get in, but that should be the goal.
