Next 8 games...

Two home games against teams we should beat. If we can take care of those two, you get a little momentum going. I don't know if 10 SEC wins is enough to get in, but that should be the goal.

That's what I've been saying for awhile, 17-18 wins is realistic if we can get on a roll. The next 8 games we have, 6 we'll be favored in, so if we can get a win tonight and gain some momentum who knows. Get to 18-12(10-8) and win 2 in the SECT and you we'd be on the bubble.

Tennessee can easily win their next six games. Their toughest game will be at Arkansas.

This team can still go 11-7 in conference (they are 1-4, that'd be a 10-3 finish). That would give them a 19-11 (11-7) and be 11-4 in their last fifteen games without even counting any SEC tourney games.

If they can somehow find a way to cut down on TO's, this team can still make the tourney.

I like the way you think

Vandy is getting DRILLED BAD right now.

Vandy goes on the road shell shocked on Tuesday on a quick turnaround. Perfect opportunity for the Vols to get a win Tuesday night.

And then get play an average Arkansas team on Saturday. Win that game and boom! You're at .500 for the conference. Then while we play three road games, UT plays Georgia, Vandy, and South Carolina, all teams UT is better than (even though I HATE playing Vandy on the road).

That's 7-3 right there, six game winning streak, seven out of the last eight.

Guys, the season is far from over.

And that Arkansas team just got curb stomped by South Carolina, SOUTH CAROLINA. I was serious when I said these 8 games (7 now) will decide where this season is headed. Getting this one tonight was big, win Tuesday and we may start to get things going.

The season may not be over but I still don't see this team making the tourney. Need to wins the rest of the home games and steal some on the road. We've been in every one and lost close ones.

SEC is crazy. Vandy gets killed at Ark but wins at USCjr. Ark gets killed at USCjr.

UGA currently winning at A & M.

Ky struggles to put away a bad LSU team at home. I think Ole Miss may embarrass them.

The underlings taking turns helps us.
Arky and AM were both ahead of us in RPI.
Closing the gap and may be ahead now.
Just checked:
TN 79
Ark 86
AM 87

The SEC is likely getting 4 teams into the dance.

Florida has a bid sewn up, and is gunning for a 1 seed.
Mizzou probably has the easiest conference schedule left of SEC teams in consideration.
Missy has swept UT this season, and is 6-0 in conference. After this two game stretch this week, their February schedule is pretty light.
Kentucky... gets Florida twice, Mizzou and Missy.

Are the UT fans that think UT has a shot at the dance counting on taking Kentucky's spot?

Seems extremely unlikely.

Please tell me who UK has beaten? When UT beats them on the home floor, they'll even the series. UK will get blasted at Ole Miss. Will probably lose to UF at least once.

It's not like they have some incredible resume that cant be overtaken.

Well, you guys.. for one. That automatically gives them the benefit of the doubt, both when comparing resumes and looking at conference standings.

And does this answer my question that you see UT's road to the dance going directly through UK?

Florida, Missouri and Ole Miss are in (barring some unprecedented collapse), that leaves atleast 1 spot open for the dance (personally I wouldn't be surprised to see 5 get in). That 4th spot right now is really up for grabs, Kentucky, Alabama, UT and A&M all have pretty similar resumes.

Right now Tennessee holds the best win out of those 4 (and actually best win ANY sec team has) so that'll help. It very well could come down to us needed to beat Kentucky at home later in the season to overtake them. The way they've been stumbling though I'd expect them to drop a few more, almost lost at home to LSU.

Well, I think he understands, considering he said when "UT beats UK on its home floor, that will even the series."

Our OOC wins are better than UK's. UMass, Xavier, and Wichita State are all Top 75 wins with one Top 20 win. UK only has 2 Top 100 RPI wins, and one is over us. Maryland is the only decent OOC win for them. However, I think we have to get to 11-7 in conference to even think about a bid. We still have chances with UK, UF, and Mizzou all at home. If we beat UK and then maybe Mizzou and finish with 19 wins, then we have a legitimate shot.

Well, again, that's what I'm asking. It seems to me that there isn't a likely scenario in which UT and UK both make the dance.

That, I have no idea. I presume that if both win 12 conference games, then it is a possibility.

I just know that we have the leg up on them with the resume sans our loss at Rupp. If we even that with a win at home and win the games we are supposed to, then we have a leg up on them.

I guess the SEC could get 5, but it depends on the records. I don't believe the Committe will turn back a 20 win Kentucky team, and if we win 19-20, then our resume is better.

Hit the nail on the head again. NCAA has to field 68 teams, some people tend to forget that. I can definitely see a scenario where Kentucky and Tennessee both get into the dance, the next 2 weeks will say a lot about where both teams are headed.

Wouldn't that look worseon Zo, not being able to make a 68 team field?

That's the key----just keep winning these close games and the rest will be history. Gotta figure out a way to hit those free throws though.

Will make or break the season. We will be favored in probably 6 of the next 8 games and if we could beat Bama tomorrow at home that'd be a nice start. Say they do that and win 7 of the next 8, well be 16- 9 or go 6 of 8 and be 15-10.

Our losses are against Oklahoma State, Georgetown, Virginia, Memphis, Ole Missx2, Bama and Kentucky...those 8 teams are all good. Bama will likely make the dance, and I'm sure Kentucky will as well...so right now 7/8 losses are against tourney teams. Up to this point we've taken care of the lesser teams, let's see if we can do that the rest of the way.

If they can, 17 or 18 wins is still very possible. Last year we were 9-11 at this point and closed on a 9-3 run. Maybe I'm just too optimistic, but I won't write off the season until it's over.

Couldn't agree more.
