Next Five commitment

I'll go out on a limb and say all 5 of those are wrong. <--- to original post

According to Lord Vader, it's crazy to think we could get anything more than a 3* commitment this early. Although USC, LSU, Michigan State, Alabama, Texas, Clemson, Florida, Oklahoma, Washington, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Florida State, Oklahoma State, Auburn, Georgia, Nebraska, KENTUCKY, and North Carolina all have at least one 4* already committed (per Rivals).

We are just supposed to assume this unproven coaching staff (based on SEC win total) knows what they're doing. The same thing we were supposed to believe when Phil Fulmer was at the helm. Take character and orange-running blood over star ratings and 40 times and stay right in the middle of the pack in the SEC.

Would you commit to a program that has had 3 coaching staffs in 24 months if you were an elite athlete? No. Dooley is bringing them on campus and establishing relationships so we at least have a chance of getting their signature on NSD.

Correct.

But I also wouldn't accept commitments from low or mid-level prospects this early. There's such a thing called slow playing. You cannot afford to have a down class or even a "fair" class in the SEC (if you expect to contend). I don't care how low our numbers are, it's too early to take every single commit we have besides maybe Randolph. JMO of course.

PS: Da'Rick Rogers did it. *Thanks to the combo-deal* and also Auburn, Nebraska, and Notre Dame have also had bad seasons and coaching changes recently. They are all three on my list.

Clear already said he will take all 5 of his official visits so, Look for him to decide in the Winter.

I'll say...

Worley
Gionni Paul
Chevelle Buie
Maurice Couch
Rory Anderson

If we get Gionni that would be a huge pick-up for CDD and CCS.

Surely you don't think any of these 3 schools are even remotely close to dealing with the same situation we are.....

Chizik is working on his 3rd recruiting class at Auburn and has a year under his belt in the SEC to prove that he actually can coach, Pellini is working on his 4th at Nebraska coming off a Big 12 championship appearance, and Notre Dame recruits itself given all the Catholic feeder schools.... There really isn't any university in D1 that we can compare ourselves with.

To go further, the recruiting class that Chizik got in 2009 (the year he was hired, before coaching a game) was ranked #19 and had 16 three stars and 3 two stars. In 2010 recruiting class, before the season practices started and Chizik still hadn't coached a game for Auburn, Chizik had 7 three stars, 4 four stars, and 1 five stars (Shon Coleman)....

As for Pellini, Nebraska finished #30 in rankings in his first recruiting class, 2008. This class had 20 three stars and 5 two stars. In 2009, his first full recruiting class, he had 9 commitments heading into the start of season practice, etc. Of these commitments, 8 were three stars, and 1 was a four star.

So, I'd say if we get out of the summer session with a few 4 star commitments and solid 3 star players, that we would be right on track.... This also discredits your belief that coaches should wait around before grabbing commitments from 3 star players... Clearly, and this should come as no surprise given the number of 3 star players out there, most recruiting classes are going to begin and consist largely of 3 star players - unless you have the privilege of in-state recruiting and winning a national championship within the last 5 years.

i hope we land more than a few 4* players. i wouldnt mind a committment from Crowder or Kerbyson. Crowder to put the Center situation to rest and and Kerb because he is a must get.

surely you have to disclude Posey from that statement.

Bam, it is definitely not to early to take Smith's or Posey's commits either. They are legit. Of the guys we have committed right now, Smith will be the highest ranked.

I can see how you can question Power and Harris, but not the other 3. They are players.

One of the best and most informative post I have ever seen. It lets me know we are right where we should be for where CDD is in his coaching tenure - or lack thereof.

It is not very fun to be in this predicament, but Auburn and Nebraska are clearly on the rise.

Yeah because our 2 coaching changes in two years is comparable to making one coaching change.

Good post. What would be even more interesting (to me, anyway) would be to find out where all these players started out in the star rankings versus where they ended up. In other words, do we value the evaluation made by these coaching staffs more than those of a reporting service.

Do we want some cats who start off as no-doubt, @$$kicking 4 and 5 stars? Sure. But is it any less sweet to land a Michael Taylor type who is off the radar and turns into one wanted by everyone? Does anyone doubt that Tyler Bray was a good pick-up even though his only other offer was SD State?

I still dont get the negative guys. First, they are upset because we didnt have any recruits.....now we get a few but they are upset because they dont have enough stars.....go figure
