Butch Jones (and many of us) expect more transfers before fall camp. Who are the next Vols to seek "greener" pastures?

I wish some vol fans would go for greener pastures. Hoping for someone to transfer who wanted to be a vol in the first place is not cool.

So many people hating on someone for being realistic about a situation. I'll offer a different perspective to this thread: Why would you wish for any young man to sit on the bench for the next 1 to possibly 4 years rather than trying to transfer and possibly have a real shot at a future in football somewhere else?

I, for one, want to see them stay. If they came to UT to be Vols, I would like to see them graduate as Vols. Sitting on the bench and being part of the scout team is important and contributes to the overall success. You don't have to be the best player to be a leader on the team. Depth is a key to long-term success. If they aren't all-star quality, their education will be more important to their future than playing time on a college football team.

In fact, many moons ago, I rode the pine. I am no less a Vol than those that went on to the NFL. However, I am a better person because of the time I spent on the team.

I think there is definitely two sides to this. On one hand, you're right they did come as Vols and made a commitment to the University. As well as also being able to be a leader in other aspects. But on the other hand, if they want to continue to play foltball, but don't necessarily fit the team style or won't see significant playing time, I think they have every right. They can be successful somewhere else and get to the NFL, take BJ Coleman for example.

And I want to see the 3*s go to make room for more 4*s.

Yeah, I said it. I am what is wrong with Volnation. And I am one of those people who really doesn't understand the talent evaluation process. You know, the coaches know best.

Selfish, IMO. I want kids who can play and get on the field to stay. If some kids are going to be buried on the depth chart, then let them go to a place where they can play. You are only given 5 years to get 4 in, so I don't want them to waste it.

Let me turn this around, if you were at your job and you knew that there was no way you were ever moving up the ladder because the boss has already tabbed other people as his co assistants or whatev, you telling me you would stay because you love the company? Some might stay because they do like the company, but what about those who want to one day become managers? Should they stay?

Same for the players, some came to UT because they grew up loving the Vols. Those players will and should stay. However, some kids came to UT because it was their best option and they wanted to PLAY in the best conference. Well, if those kids aren't good enough to PLAY, then let them transfer to another team/ opportunity (emphasis on opportunity).
