Next up: Arkansas

I watched Arkansas play OK state. They were up on them and razorbacks QB just went south, and they had fumbles late in the game. OK state caught them and forced overtime and won. Other than that they have played cupcakes.

So obviously we have a week off to regroup, but next up is at Arkansas. I know their QB Taylon Green has been solid but unfamiliar with what their defense looks like.

I assume Tennessee will shut down the between the tackles run game so our defense needs to stay sharp on the quick passes and QB run.

Is their defense closer to NC State or Oklahoma? If we get by this the only other true road games are Georgia and Vandy.
Simple: All we need to do is send one of our Cheerleaders over to the Arkansas sideline and Bobby Petrino won't be able to function as O Coordinator.

We were in a bend but don’t break style when we dialed it up Hawkins couldn’t do much. The only time we rushed 3 all night is when Hawkins was in. Go back and look at tape.

Also, his 2 best passes were when a UT defender slipped. The big pass play we had 2 guys (#7 slipped and was dropping into coverage and the cover corner slipped coming out of the rub)

Doneiko Slaughter is one of their starting corners...
and Addison Nichols is their center. Just FYI Slaughter is having a good year and is a good corner. Bad news for them is our staff knows him and Nicols.

Arkansas doesn't worry me, the way our defense is playing we should win this game by multiple scores. I don't think Arkansas' defense poses any real threat to prevent us from scoring points.

Their game against aTm Saturday may actually be a good game but the Vols are on a different level IMO.

Getting healthy on the Oline is all that matters. Having both starting Tackles out made that game way closer than it should have been and it wasn't anywhere near close. The choice to throttle back and let the defense close out the game was genius because it means we have less on tape for opponents to prepare for. But anyone paying attention might have noticed what happens when you stack the box on us.... Those deep shots to Thornton, Bru and Squirrel made them back off and opened up the run again.

It's been said many times and proven. The only way to stop UT's offense is to be able to play a light box on every down. Only UGA has been able to do it on a regular basis and the only teams we face that have the talent level to try it are UGA and Bama. Even those teams are a bit down on secondary talent this year so its gonna be a tall task. Arkansas has no hope of pulling it off.

Interesting. Do we want the Razorbacks to Win this Saturday over Texas A&M to improve our strength of schedule? Or, do we want the Aggies to soften up our opponent in two weeks???

Hmmmmm. Any thoughts??

Both. Game is physical but Arkansas wins.

For SOS, I think we need Arkansas to beat Aggies and Florida beat UCF.

If Arkansas beats A&M, they'll be ranked when we play. They'd be 4-1, 2-0 in the SEC, 1-1 vs Top 25.

That would give us an opportunity to pick up another Top 25 road win.

I like that they have to play a tough game vs Texas A&M before us and the game will be their 6th straight while we will be coming off a bye

Arkansas is really feast or famine on offense. Their o-line is doing better than what people predicted pre season, but I am not sure they have really been tested so far. They get a lot more done on the ground with a dynamic running QB and good RB as well. That could be difficult for us as they can hit you with a one two punch quickly. However, their QB is not as productive over the air. He is sitting at a 53% completion rate and has thrown just as many INTs as he has TDs. He has also been sacked 3 times each of the last 3 games. They are very much built to bait you into overshooting your pass rush and opening up a big lane for the QB to chunk you with his legs or an easy 5 yard completion here and there.

Their defense is nothing to write home about. They gave up a lot of production against Auburn, but Auburn ended up turning it over a ton. Obviously, we cannot do that and expect a victory. If we play a consistent and disciplined game on offense, then I am confident we can score. Stranger things have happened in this league, but they haven't really proved much so far. They might just be one of those "bend don't break" units.

Their biggest issues is consistency. They either put together a 6 play, 55 yard TD drive, or give you the ball on a silver platter. They totally collapsed against an alright OKST team in the second half. They looked questionable against Auburn, but again Auburn totally shot themselves in the foot. It comes down to maxims and playing mistake free ball. If we do that, I think we run them out of their own stadium.
