Once again...so you feel the same about Pierre Jackson and Chris jones?
As I said earlier, from everything ive heard from people who coach and scout for a living, and from former players this guy is a high major d1 starter.
Not just my opinion, it's most people's opinion that have done their homework on the guy and have scouted him.
Boynton is freakishly athletic. Golden is not. Also let's quit comparing what Martin expects defensively to what Donavon expects defensively.
And yet CCM has stated multiple times Trae Golden will be the point guard for the next two years.
I'll take what CCM says over a possible JUCO recruit who wasn't even a BCS player when he left. Maybe Fabyon is that good. Maybe's he not. It's very premature to think he'll be the starting PG from day one.
Question for everyone. Who else is going to be asked to leave after Washpun? Chevious comes to mind, but I'm not sure if CCM would do that. There are some ties between the two, and Chevioius' father. I've seen that Reese may have to go to prep school due to grades, but I don't know that for sure. Hall being reinstated leaves no scholarship available. I all for improving the PG situation, but the signing of Moore took the last scholarship. I personally wish it would have gone to a true PG. I'd be interested in your comments. Thanks.

And he since has rescinded that statement.
Do you think Fabyon is better than mcbee, or no?
Hopefully we'll get lucky and it'll be Reese. If that happens and we suddenly have an available scholly, I don't care what the position is as long as they guy can score. We need offense. Trae and Maymon usually always got theirs, and I think Stokes' offense began to improve toward the end of the season. You saw the difference in the outcome of our games when our wings were scoring and when they weren't. When Tatum or McRae were on, we usually fared pretty well. We need to add another consistent scorer somewhere on the floor.
By saying every spot is open? That's just coach speak. Is Maymon or Stokes' spot open? Uh, no.
I don't know. I've never seen Fabyon play major D-1 basketball.
Is he better than McRae, Richardson, or Moore? Will he be better than them after two of those three get workouts the next couple weeks?
To insinuate Faybon is going to be come on campus and immediately become the starting PG from day one after Trae was a top 4 SEC PG is ludicrous.
So you feel the same way about Chris jones? And felt that way about Pierre Jackson?
The kids not gonna go somewhere to sit, the fact A&M, Kansas and Ohio state as well as ole miss are all over this could should tell you something.
I guess I didn't realize our roster was in good enough shape that a guard who's being recruited by Matta and Self aren't good enough to play here.
What about these HS kids? Say hubbs for example...you've praised him to no end and talk about the player he'd be here, yet you've never seen him play d1???
Did bobby maze and Melvin goins start here? I believe so. Also, look at their numbers in juco, taking into consideration opponents and level of play and compare it to Fabyon and tell me what you get...You feel the same way about Bobby Maze and Melvin Goins? JUCO point guards are a complete crapshoot.
Yeah, they want him as a backup point guard? Sure, tells me he can be a good backup point guard. He's not starting at KU and OSU. Have they even offered him? I believe not.
Did I say that? No. You're putting words into my mouth. I'm not denying he can't play. I'm not denying he can't start. I'm saying it's ludicrous to think he'll start from day one here, considering Trae's improvement and what CCM has said. This isn't football.
Hubbs is a 5* recruit, not a 2* HS recruit and 3* JUCO recruit. Totally different situations.
Not to beat a dead horse but that's why I, and some others want Fabyon so badly. The guy scores, hits 3's, handles the ball, and plays tenacious D. If we get that extra scholly why not bring him in?
If he turns out to be as useful as washpun at PG then oh we'll, atleast you tried. However I really do not see that happening, and I really think at this point of recruiting for 2012 he's the 1 biggest addition we have left on the table.
You make a good point. If he can score like you say, then I'd be all for it. Sounds like you've done your research, but who really knows until the kid gets situated and shows he can do it on the court. Either way, I'd like to see the coaching staff make another move this year. Bring in another body and hope you get lucky, or save the space for a solid recruit in next year's class.
See my edited above post, i deleted the Matta part because that's a whole new an of worms.
But wait...how do you know what they are or are not recruiting him as? I can tell you with 100% guarantee Texas A&M is recruiting him as a starting PG, as well as Ole Miss.
Where is Hubbs a 5*?
I've seen where they are interested. Doesn't mean they will offer. You know that.
Maybe they are. Ole Miss doesn't have a PG as good as Golden. I don't know enough about TAMU, but they won I think 15 games, so they need some help.
Meant top 50 player.
Correct they may not, probably waiting to see if their guards declare before they consider offering.
A&M is a decent high major d1 program, and ole miss was arguably better than we were and both are recruiting him as a starting PG. And I'd argue that ole miss pg is as good if not better than golden, if you remember he outplayed golden in both games, especially the sec t game. He's a true freshman that went 10.5ppg 3.5apg 2.5rpg....and went for 17p 2a 5rb against golden in both teams biggest games of the year.
I don't think I can stress this enough, its not as much Fabyon>Golden as it is Fabyon>Skylar and Trae>Skylar...if that makes sense.
Here's what I mean...IMO Trae is a better 2 guard than Skylar in about every aspect, but IMO overall clearly is a better 2 guard that skylar. Fabyon IMO at worst is a wash with trae at PG, his ball handling and defense are no doubt better, but offense/shooting may not translate as we know. So...if trae and Fabyon are even close to equal at PG, and Trae is clearly a better overall 2 than skylar...isn't the team better with Fabyon at pg and Trae at the 2???
IMO this gives you the TRUE PG many say was one of our weaknesses. It improves your defense at the 1, and probably the 2 if traw will give effort. It makes you a more explosive team, and gives you that play maker at the 2 spot and shot creator. I've been one of traes biggest fans you know this, BUT for the team of Fabyon can be that kind of player I think it's a no brainer.
If Hall dedicates his off season, to improve his face up game, and cuts down on his fouls, he could be very good. That remains to be seen. Yemi can be a serviceable post. Kind of like Brian Williams. But no way he starts over Hall.NO!
You may see maymon get a few minutes during the game at the 3, but I mean like 5. He will not start at the 3.
He's quick but not that quick. He will once again be at the 4/5 next year.
And no way yemi is playing over Kenny IMO next year.
Kendrick was suspeded for the SECT. Anytime that happens, it's a question mark.
And Faybon isn't the prototypical PG. I stand by what I think he is: A change of pace guard who can break the press effectively and push the pace if necessary to give Trae a breather. And again, he's probably better than McBee (though that's isn't a certainity) but I don't know if he'll be better than McRae or Richardson.

Yes! I would bet on that. Martin's words were, "Golden's our point guard going forward. His future in the NBA, is as a point guard, and that's where we're going to play him".You wanna bet on that?
If we land Fabyon he's not riding the pine, not a chance. If we don't then yes you're correct, but you can bet your house on it if we land Fabyon trae will be playing the 2 te majority of the time.
