This. ^^^^

It's not like they are required to provide proof, or that they must tell the truth. UGA knows know that Tennessee reported the 125 decibel figure for the Alabama game. This is known as one-upmanship.

I can accept that Bryant-Denny and Ben Hill-Griffin could be a little louder than Neyland ... but not Sanford & Son. No way.
I think Bama is the quietest of the major programs in SEC. But I agree with your point in general

That’s to Eric Ainge

This is correct, all the media outlets quoted him all week. If fact, not only did they have the home field advantage, being voted #1 also have them additional motivation and actually made it seem like they were the underdog.

Decibels increase exponentially, so for them to say it was that much louder would mean it would have to be almost twice as loud, not possible.
If there’s any doubt when you’re in Neyland watch the scoreboard meter at 104 and listen how much louder 108 is.
AIR the 125 was as the Winning FG was scored and the entire stadium erupted. What occurred today that caused 10000 fewer fans to to be more than 5 times louder than that?
Either somebody can’t calibrate the device or there was an artificial noise maker close to the device.
Acoustics class was a long time ago but I also believe that the weather was not conducive to maximum sound propagation
Of course inflation might be affecting dB also 🤷🏻‍♂️

Sorry, but Neyland Stadium wasn't louder before the addition of the north end upper deck in 1996 made it a fully symmetrical double decker bowl.
Yet Husky Stadium holds the record.

Ok, maybe I didn't measure the decibels, let's rephrase: If today upper deck fans stayed seated and stomped their feet like they once did we would shatter the decibel record.

I was at the 92 Bama game and never heard the PA announcer. I couldn't hear the guy next to me unless he yelled right into my ear.

I've been to a lot of games and held season tickets up to the early 2000s and that was the loudest game I attended.

I think ex players need to stfu about “back in my day” stories. Ainge never played a #1 Georgia team. He pi&&Ed the bed at LSU, Fla & Bama. I don’t recall Clausen telling media “Swamp wasn’t that tough for me” before EA played there. Punk.

Ainge should of keep his big mouth shut. No reason to make the comment he did. Stupid!

Georgia was #3 in 2004, when Ainge split time with Brent Schaeffer as a freshman and Tennessee won in Athens 19-14. I have a hard time seeing this as a big deal.

I was there in section 603 sulking with others. Refs were announcing penalties while the db level on their screen was showing 127. It was a joke of a number and was 30+ higher on the screen than what it actually was. It was a loud game but it was not Oklahoma Neyland or Bama 2 weeks ago loud

I was at the game and can say Neyland was definitely louder. I sat row 11 on the 25 yard line for the UGA game. I sat row 13 on the 25 yard line for Bama. Neyland was louder. The scoreboard in Sanford would show 117dB before the crowd even started cheering, presumably to get them to cheer. Was effective, but not an accurate reading at all.

Multiple UGA fans around me agreed and laughed with me when it read 120.4dB in the 3rd but was much quieter than the 105dB reading on the first UT drive. “Yeah, but I’m still going to take a picture for my story!” Great crowd yesterday, I’ll always admit, but Neyland is louder.

Edit to add: Also, in retrospect, note that we were able to converse easily at “120.4 dB”, which goes to show how it was not even close to as loud as shown.

Everyone? How could you possibly know this?
The context of what I said is that it looked as though everyone in attendance made noise. Although that is not a statement of absolutes it is a broad statement based off of what I could observe based on network coverage.
