NFC Playoff Game Thread: Seattle at Atlanta (FOX, Sun 1PM EST)

Too soon?

Apparently. Two passes, two completions. Winning FG.

Ya I was thinking the same.. At least u tried with a Hail Mary it's a miracle.. I guess a 65 harder is also but I woulda took my chance in the leg..

They probably should have gone down the middle of the field and a little deeper and then called timeout.

A FG of that distance would be even less likely without it being a free kick

I'm not sure about that. I see guys 50+ yarders all the time that would have been good from 65. Especially considering that it was indoors, I'd think the odds of hitting a 65 yard FG are better that completing a Hail Mary, which MIGHT be 100-1.

Their kicker is 100 years old and just joined the team this week. Anything over 45 yards was a pipe dream.

You know what sucks is that Hauschka had the leg to at least try a 60+ kick but thanks to Washington's ****ty field he got hurt. Matt Ryan lucked into this win and will get destroyed by the 49ers defense.

I don't have time to fully debate it, but - and don't take it the wrong way - I could probably promise those 50+ yarders, if they were in games, were ones that would have capped out in the 57-59 yard range...maybe 60-61.

If you're talking about kicks that you've seen in pre-game, that's also a bit of a different story.

(but the arc length/height, defensive pressure, and precision needed for a few step, rushed kick make it a mess to perform...both are abysmal chance wise)

They were between a rock and a hard place no doubt. Do you think Longwell could hit even 2 out of 100 from 65 yards? Again, if you are lucky you might complete a Hail Mary once in a hundred tries. Like you said, they had a bit longer to spend on the first play, a probably should have tried to get a few more yards.

a 65 yrd fg would have gotten blocked.the kicker would have had to kick for distance,so the kick would have had a lower trajectory.
