NFL Combine.............

The combine also gives different height/weight numbers than what many players are listed at. DeSean Jackson for example is listed in the Cal guide at 6' and 172 lbs. The combine measured him to be 5'7", 175.
That's common practice for teams to overstate the height and weight of their players.

Also siding with Droski on DeSean Jackson. Ginn was a supremely talented player in that college, but he was also that guy that got a lot of preseason hype every single year of his career and never really did too much.

I realize Darren McFadden is a great player, but I'm not sure I would get rid of Marion Barber or trade away 2 draft picks for him. They can keep Barber and can get some help on the defensive side of the ball (mainly their secondary).

I have to side with Droski here. Anyone claiming that Ginn was a better college player than DeSean Jackson is showing a general lack of football IQ. It's not even close.

If I were you, I wouldn't question anybody's football knowledge. You've been wrong a helluva lot more times than you've been right on here.

Ginn will be twice the pro player DeSean will be. I promise.

You're probably right, but we're talking their college careers.

I have a hard time believing anybody could say with a straight face that Ted Ginn wasn't a complete underachiever at Ohio State.

No, I never once said a word about college careers. That was droski

jackson was a much better WR and punt returner than ginn. not that ginn deserved to be picked in the top-20 either.

Droski said Jackson was a better returner than Ginn, clearly comparing the college careers of the two. Which you made a direct response to. What else do you think he was talking about, his professional career?

Jackson was a much better player in college than Ted Ginn. Like I said, though, I agree with you in that Ginn probably has more upside as an NFL player than Jackson.

Right...because I was one of the first posters on this board claiming that our coaching staff is terrible and that our program is in a steady decline. I clearly know nothing.

Perhaps that statement would have some relevance if ANYONE were talking about who would be the better pro player. The discussion was about who was the better college player, and you're clueless if your answer is Ginn.

You hang your hat on something that was evident in 2002. Congrats.

I don't think either of them will be all pro caliber. jackson i'm sure will make an impact on special teams though.

The top 3 RBs of McFadden, Stewart, and Mendenhall will end up being the best top 3 backs taken in a long long time, and yes, better than Benson/Brown/Williams.

i've never been sold on stewart. he has great size, speed, etc, but his vision stinks and he doesn't show up in the big games. that and he's been injured a lot.

HUH?

@ Michigan: 15 carries, 111 yards (7.4 ypc)
v. Cal: 21 carries, 120 yards (5.7 ypc)
USC: 25 carries, 103 yards (4.1 ypc)
Arizona St: 21 carries, 99 yards (4.7 ypc)
UCLA: 13 carries, 33 yards (2.5 ypc)
Oregon St: 39 carries, 163 yards (4.2 ypc)
S. Florida: 23 carries, 253 yards (11 ypc)

Those are games against bowl teams, and I didn't even include Fresno St. Stewart had 1772 yards and averaged 6.2 ypc on the season. That's a Heisman worthy season, but nobody ever mentioned him. Stewart's 2007 was better than Lynch's 2006.

you are looking at his 07 stats which i agree mostly proves me wrong. i'm talking about his entire career.

as for lynch, stewart got 50 more carries than lynch did. their yards per carry were the same. and lynch was a much bigger threat as a receiver. it should also be noted that dixon was a much bigger threat at qb than longshore was that year. i don't see stewart putting up big numbers in a pro style offense.

Benson has been terrible and the Auburn guys haven't been as good as they first appeared.

6.2 > 6.1

I think it's hilarious that now you say Dixon > Longshore, even though when I said it before the season, you ripped me. At some point, I think you'd start to defer to my opinion.

2006 longshore was infinitely better than the 2006 dixon. and i'm wrong many times trust me. .. as are you. at least i'm willing to admit it. and i bet if dixon had nate's injury in 07 his stats wouldn't have been nearly as impressive. stewart also had FAR better run blocking than lynch did.

Yeah, Dixon was healthy all of 2007.

Did Jackson spit time as a DB and WR his freshman year?

Jackson had a great sophomore year. That's it.

He was a good punt returner.
