NFL QB combine

Question for you, what would the perception of Manning be if social media existed when he was at UT? The "mooning incident" would be the most talked about topic leading up to the draft.

Personally, I don't think Winston will be that great of a pro, but it's not because of the baggage. I just think the college and pro games are completely different.

In that incident, Manning had a maturity issue but he did not shoplift lobsters which is against the law. He also didn't have casual sex with a person that he had just met, which shows poor judgement. He also didn't yell out, while standing on a table, in front of a crowd of people, a vulgar remark, which shows poor judgement.

I wonder if Winston will turn out like Vince Young

Vince Young was not an off the field issue guy BUT he was a "I'm too dumb to learn the playbook type of guy"
Once V.Y. scored super low on the Wonderlic, the Texans passed on drafting him. Their comment was something like " We need the leader of our team to be a smart player also"
If you can't learn the playbook and the coaching staff has to dummie the playbook down for you, then there will be issues.
Winston will be a guy who plays well his rookie season but gets in trouble.
V.Y. = too dumb to learn playbook JaMarcus Russell = Poor work ethic J. Winston = Behavior issues.

Besides run of course, what facet of being a QB is Mariota better at than Jameis

Better athlete in all ways, turns the ball over less (far less), hasn't had a tenth of the off field problems that Jameis has, speaks full sentences when emotional, and drafting him won't make a fan base divided in any way.

He doesn't pass as well as far as making the prototypical NFL passes

This is college in general, or life of many under 30.

What should go there is "He needed an entire police force and institution to turn their eyes away to insure he didn't get charged with rape"

From the deposition filed by the attorney of Dr. Jamie Ann Naughright in the Peyton Manning case: "Naughright was examining manning for a possible foot injury when unprovoked Manning dropped his shorts, and sat down on Dr. Naughright's head."

Naughright quote: " It was the gluteus maximus, the rectum, the testicles, and the area between the testicles. And all that was on my face when I pushed him up. To get leverage, I took my head out to push him up and off."

Malcolm Saxon, a U.T. Cross Country runner, who was the supposed recipient of Manning's mooning, backed up Naughright's version of the story. Naughright settled with U.T. for $300,000 in 1997, and took Manning to court in 2003 , after Manning said negative things about her in a book that he wrote. She received an out of court settlement, and neither side can talk about it.

She felt that she lost a job due to the smear in Manning's book. This is good judgment? It might be cheaper in the long run to yell vulgar remarks and steal crab legs.

'72 is on the right track. The reason I called it the "mooning incident" is because that is pretty much what it was referred to. But that doesn't make it the truth in what happened.

In today's world, Manning would be in deep Sh&T! There wasn't 24/7, instant news coverage on every event. The SID could create the story to distribute. They don't have that luxury today with Twitter, etc.

He is accused of doing something worse than mooning. Mooning is what he admits to. Another athlete at U.T. agreed with his accuser that he purposely dropped his buttocks and scrotum on the woman's head while she examined him for an injury. Manning settled to keep the case quiet as possible.

Don't forget that Manning has had to settle this twice.

If you are talking about the Lindsay Cook sexual assault allegations in New Orleans, it is hard to find out anything. The Bleacher Report story has been removed.

You're prolly right. I don't know why I thought that was the UT incident.

I guess that further proves that Mr. Manning isn't immune to bad behavior, as well. It's just that we tend to sweep things under the rug for those we admire.

Jones is likely the fastest with a 4.60 with Jennings next fastest then Dobbs followed by Dormandy.

Jennings is my bet for the fastest, theres a reason why several scouts gushed about his potential at safety. Just from film id say jennings is a 4.5ish guy, jones is probably around a 4.7 guy like dobbs and dormady is probably in the 4.8 range

I'm not in love with either qb, but even with Winston being a big head case, I'd take him over Mariotta. Oregon has had a lot of great qbs over the last 10 years, and they haven't done anything in the NFL. It's just the system they run in my opinion. Personally if I were the Titans, I'd skip on a QB all together in the first round. I'd draft one of Petty, Grayson, or Hundley in the 2nd or 3rd round, or may even wait and try to pick up Carden from ECU in the 5th or 6th round.

I would draft neither. Bad year for quarterbacks and would not use an early pick on either of them.

Honestly I think Hundley is a 2nd round pick. He ran his 20 yard shuttle 3.98 seconds. That's unheard of for a QB - faster than Manziel - on par with Ameer Abdullah's speed. IMO he has all the tools GMs are looking for when evaluating a second round QB pick. He will make a nice fit in the right system

Watching Mariotta run a 4.52 and Winston run a 4.97. I was wondering if anyone has latest 40 times on Dobbs and our new 3 incoming QB's. In 2013 ESPN recruiting had Dobbs as 4.94. Seems like someone posted the whole teams 40 times last Spring if I'm remembering right.

Bajakian is not going to care. It's obvious why he bolted for the NFL and Tampa Bay now. He will be working with the #1 pick in this years draft Jameis Winston. They don't draft QB's for their 40 times, they get drafted for the arm and intangibles. Like him or not Winston is the top pick and to win in the NFL it requires a top rate QB. Personally he's a dumpster fire waiting to happen but good grief when he puts on the gear all the dude does is win! I personally can't stand him and think he should be in jail but that's JMHO.

I would love to see us get Petty in a later round

Winston was passing great at the combine. I bet Tampa Bay drafts him with their 1st round draft pick

That will increase his chances of being a bust, TB hasn't been too successful at drafting a great QB.

I think the Titans would be better off trading Mariota pick to the Eagles for every pick they got. The Titans don't have the right coaching staff to make it work IMO. Plus look what Darron Thomas did at Oregon, he had huge numbers and almost most won the NC. But he's now a backup in the arena league!
