Nichols going to Memphis madness

You guys dont a midnight madness? That's insane. We sell our tickets for cheap so it should be no problem for you guys to sell out. I also think students get in free or a discount.

I thoroughly enjoy college basketball and attend the SEC Tournament every year, along with some additional games. But, Madness is not something that interests me. It's a glorified practice. Perhaps that's why I managed to grow up in KY and not remain a UK fan. Different attitudes in regards to sports. I'm not bashing anyone's passion for filling an Arena for a trumped-up practice. To each his own. It's just not for me. If Tennessee ever revives it, and it draws well, then great. But, I'd rather watch pretty much any college football game on TV than attend a basketball practice. By the same token, spring football games don't interest me either.

Not many people not named Kentucky would sell 22k tix for midnight madness.

Exactly.

If I lived in Knoxville, I would have season tickets for basketball. But, it wouldn't matter to me if they brought back Madness. If they did, and I lived nearby, I probably would go, but it would be more about getting another body in the stands than about me really caring to watch a practice.

That said, if I would have gotten to TBA sooner on the day of the Fla game this year, I would have attended that practice, to show support, especially with recruits in the building.

But, spectating Auburn/LA-Monroe, or whoever was on TV, interests me more than spectating a basketball practice.

Plus hang out with NBA players (usually some Grizz players are there).

In all honesty if he'd have said no the city would've freaked on him probably. He's going to try and make Memphis feel as in play as possible, in hopes the city doesn't completely burn down when he comes here.

Memphis fans have crossed off Nichols a long time ago...definitely when we pulled in Kuran Iverson. Not a single fan expected Nichols to be at madness. Nichols wants to be there and for your sake I would hope its the worse one yet.

The interest is there.....on both sides.

I'm sure he does, I wouldn't mind being there either...fun event for a basketball fan.

We pack 100k fans for football game that he'll be attending...atmosphere is usually insane on Bama-UT games...for your sake you should hope its a rainy day, and crappiest atmosphere yet.

The interest is there....on both sides.

Being that i can say I have been to tenn bball games and Memphis madness and games.. The only thing Memphis has over Tennessee is the crowd atmosphere. I've never been to another college bball arena besides TBA and the forum but the tiger fans are crazy loud and non stop allll game. The players really feed off of that and it's really cool to see the crowd so intense with the game.... Tenn fans at bball games... I've seen better fans at local high school games.

I guess it is viewed different from a UK fans standpoint. Regardless, it helps a bit in recruiting and Martin should try resurrecting it. Even if you do fill half the arena.
