for 5 mil a year the fans shouldn't have to get his team properly motivated.

It was clear to anyone and everyone here in NOLA that Alabama did not want to be playing Utah. Further, it is the first fanbase I have ever encountered to be so openly disappointed to be in NOLA for the Sugar Bowl. I was amazed.

but the coach's job is to prepare the football team to win football games, not to grouse about the fans because his team had its ass handed to it.

Exactly. STFU and do the job you're paid for. The fans can do whatever the hell they please, you excuse laden dillhole.

I don't think that Bama fans will mind one bit about any alleged chastising. Have you ever seen a coach with such control over an athletic department or, for that matter, a fanbase?

I agree. It just amazes me that he can say and do anything and that fanbase will deal with it.

Saban and Bama fans seem to be a good match. He's a meglomaniac and they just want to be relevant. Both win.

What BPV said was what I was gonna say.

The fanbase isn't renowned for their intellectual and cognitive skills.

They might have not wanted too play Utah at the Sugar Bowl, but they certainly did not want their azzes to be handed too them on national TV in front of everybody.

Just saw on the local news that Saban spent four min.'s talking about how it was the fans lack of support that caused them to lose the Sugar bowl. He said the Bama fans expect them to win the national champ. every year, and the team should of been supported better last yr. after making it to a BCS bowl. After Saban was hired I saw where one writer stated the only way Saban can keep Bama fans happy is to win 6 national champ.'s over the next five yrs. Looks like it is coming true. Don't crucify me if this has already been posted.

Somehow I have a ton of trouble believing Saban actually said this.
There is a link in that link that will take you to the story and if you go to the comments at the end of said story you will get to read my astute response. :p Ok here is the link, wouldn't want you to strain something looking for it...

It just seems to me that no coach in their right mind would say something like that.

He did. It is ok because they are winning. Great recruitng, good coaching. Bama fans were starved after Coach Stahlings. Saban is a very good coach, his comments seem very insecure.

He's just pre-emptively making up his "reasons" to get out of Alabama in the event there's an opening at Michigan this December. Remember, Saban basically wrote his own contract and Alabama signed it, and it doesn't include a buyout at all. He can leave anytime he wants to.

Michigan nothing, as soon as Pete Carroll is back in the league he'll split for Los Angeles.

He would have to be CRAZY to leave UA for Michigan. Period. He has proven to be a great recruiter no doubt....but noway he hauls in the same classes at UM that he can pull at Bama. But, he isnt exactly the most "honest" coach in the world.....for 6-7 mill a year he would probably leave for Duke.

You think Michigan would fire RichRod after one year? The buyout would be astronomical I bet.

Maybe they should've realized that if they didn't play well in part A then part B would occur.

Yes they would, if he's successful. If the upcoming season has no impromement from last season, which I don't the they'll do better than a 7-5...you don't want to be in the position of going broke dismissing this guy either.

I see your point but I haven't been able to figure out why he would leave his alma mater and supposedly dream job for the maize and blue.
