I don’t understand this.

In the era of the transfer portal and highly talented players continually leaving early for the draft even with very little college success (See Anthony Richardson). I’m surprised they are even thinking about a redshirt.
It should have been obvious he needed to get the reps in for next year anyway.

You let Joe finish out on Senior day and get the first half and sub him out in the 3rd. I get it was a disappointing year and its time to move to the future, but you treat your players well. He has been here 3 years. You end the season on good terms and let Milton ceremoniously hand the position over to Nico.

It's a bigger benefit to Nico to have a redshirt than it is to throw the ball 5 times against UGA when you are already down 28.

Nico should be great, but a lot of QBs don't pan out as quickly as fans would like. He could need that Redshirt even if he's not at UT when he's using it.
Its unlikely Nico plays more than three years of CFB so redshirt is pointless.

Becuase its the right thing to do by a player and shows recruits as well as current players that your program is going to put them first.

If players are going to sit as a backup, they at least want the credit of having a free year just in case they need it in the future. It takes some pressure off their shoulders and gives them the insurance of more time.

Look at a team like NC State that burned a freshman kid's redshirt last year by putting him in a 5th game. Then this year when he is the backup and comes off the bench midseason to start, he decides to quit after 4 games becuase he wants to preserve a redshirt year becuase he didn't get one the year before and was only going to end up with 7 or 8 games played this year.

Because they’ve decided to redshirt him and I’m assuming he’s down with that plan too or we’re screwed. We might be screwed for next year anyway but still…

Hey basketball season has started and also Dobbs is balling out for the Vikings! That’s where I’m turning my focus anyway.

Nobody thought DJ Uiagalelei would still be in college, but he is. I don't expect Nico to be in college in 3 years, but if he values that option then I respect that

Just watched the post game presser and Josh's comments about Nico and a redshirt are interesting. The "there's a lot of factors" comment seems odd to me. It's at about 7:10 in the video. I'm wondering what "factors are involved" with Nico currently.

Nico is taking a redshirt
Nico was always gonna take a red shirt ...It was the plan all along ..Why people went the whole season and didn't see this is beyond me ..Listen to basilio tonight ,him and Adams was shocked at the thought ...Joe not only hamstrung the team this year ,Nico's looming redshirt did as well

If Nico doesn't start against Vanderbilt next week, I doubt he will start a game at Tennessee, he will be in the prortal and gone in January, why stick around for a team that has zero defense and will require an offense to score 38 - 45 points each week to be competitive in the SEC, that is a very tall order going forward and not many quarterbacks want that type of pressure for points production

All the quarterbacks in the Pac-12 this year are portal transfers

Based on our recent performances and inability to score, is a win against Vandy guaranteed with Arm Cannon Joe?

Vandy is awful record wise, but they competed better against misery and UGA. Our players look done. So, unfortunately there is no guarantee and that should tell you all you need to know about the state of this program.

It's going to be a battle with them next week for that 8th win.
