Nico Iamaleava breaks silence over Tennessee CFP rumors and fires back at haters

Not piling on but I read on one of the other UT sites that he did not honor his NIL commitments very well at all. Was a no show for autograph sessions and public appearances he was required to do in his deal. I don't know if these NIL deals follow a player when they transfer or not. They are separate from the university so don't know how that is handled. If what I read is true Spyre should have canceled his deal when he left.

Also read an article by Austin Price where he said he could not find any supporting evidence that Nico threatened to hold out from the playoff game, which is what Nico laughed at in his response.

Didn't his dad deny they were entering the portal or trying to strong arm UT right before they did exactly that?

I'll be glad to see this in the distant rearview. Just chalk it up as a lesson learned.

This whole thing just makes me really sad. I was hoping it would eventually be just the narrative of a kid given bad advice and showing too much loyalty to family. I wanted to believe that Nico himself loved Tennessee and was really just a puppet of this whole thing.

But then he opened his mouth and said that.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems like there was some talk from someone, don't remember who, about Nico asking for more NIL money before the playoff game. Anyone else remember anything about this?

Love him or hate him; Nico played his ass off in that playoff game. One of the few on the team that actually did.
Maybe the team got wind of the sit out and decided to sit out on him.
If you call playing your a$$ that amounts to pedestrian stats then then follow him to UCLA.
Second we played the eventual NC on their home field in sub 20 degree weather.

Don't care

Typically, I would wish a player transferring success, but he and his family have completely burned the bridges. I think we will be better off in the long run without the drama family.

If that was the case he'd still be here. Nobody else is going to pay him more than we were paying him. If he goes to UCLA, he's REALLY going to be making less with California taxes & overall cost of living. He screwed himself royally.
So your saying him and diddy knew they would take a pay cut?
