I know it's early in the season, but I think Hooker hit receivers in stride better. Nico probably a better scrambler.
I’d hope so. Hooker had a few years experience over the R-Fr. Nico is ahead of Hooker in all aspects of the game.

Defense was in position.

He shouldn’t have went there with the ball.

Bru hasn’t been able to get to a few ball where Nico leads him, and honestly sideline route should have been the option anyway.

Now Heupel has to let him regroup and rotate Bishop more with Sampson and run this game out.

This NC State defense is pesky af….
That NC State D is better than the score indicated. Good prep for the SEC. Not a top tier SEC D, but a middle of the conference SEC D.

Offense just left them on the field too long and in bad field position.

Just wanted to put this out there before anyone tries to run any agenda.

Both of the plays that ended in Interceptions for NC State against Nico were tipped. The first wasn’t shown but on a replay a few plays later, but the ball was tipped at the line and NOT an overthrow. The next obviously was his arm being hit before what we all know would’ve been a dime.

Please don’t let anyone spread any negative agenda’s about Nico if they clearly didn’t watch the game.
That first one was not tipped.

I think someone got a finger on it. It sailed away because it was wobbly due to that

Three game sample size. I remember Hooker missing receivers his first year starting as well.

But Hooker was >>>> at scrambling at this point in the season as well.

Nico’s INT was the same route he completed last week to Thornton layering that ball between the LBs and Safety. Difference is a higher caliber opponent, those LBs were a few yards deeper that created a smaller windows and too much air. He will learn as the competition gets tougher, but that still was completable if he had led the receiver a bit more.

Defense gave up 44 when our offense was good enough. That’s the lower end of defense.

He threw it too early he should’ve let bru clear a little more but I like the throw and anticipation… he led bru too much… but like I said earlier it didn’t effect him in the slightest and that’s a character only the great ones have the ability to shake off an int because they are inevitable and good teaching tools in the film room…

I'm not overly concerned. It just didn't seem like we were running up tempo on any consistent basis at all in this game especially in the first half. When you're offense thrives on that, and you try to change it up, it can throw you off rhythm. I'm pretty sure that first interception came on first down. We had just made a first down, and we took a long time getting the next play called/run. Not saying this excused Nico's bad throw, but if you go fast after making a first down, like we normally do, it doesn't give them time to process everything. Just my take on that. The second INT was just poor blocking.

But I must say it feels good to still be slightly critical of something after a blow out win over a top 25 opponent. I just hope our pace on offense gets back to where it usually is at least against the good teams.

The DL has to be the difference maker in big games, I still don't trust the secondary completely yet. I just hope they can improve as the season goes.

Go to Aaron Murray's Youtube channel. He does an excellent breakdown of Nico in this game. He shows the 3 high zone that NCST played and shows some better options on a couple of plays that Nico missed. Overall Nico played well. It was his 3rd start and against a scheme that took away a lot of the downfield throws CJH likes.
