Nico not at practice today

I get it. Just saying the puzzle pieces don't line up at Florida. Nico couldn't play there this season and they have a better QB anyway.

My guess would be USC/UCLA/one of the Arizona schools.

Neither Clemson nor FSU in the ACC would want him at this point. Miami is already paying Beck

B10-Michigan just snagged Underwood. Ohio State? Doubtful they saw much in him a few months ago

Does anyone in the country have the same expectations for Az or Az state that they have for UT? I rest my case.

Basically only place that would make sense and over the same expectations would be USC. UCLA is gonna remain hot garbage.

I dunno man-I just don't see anyone giving him $4 million. I really don't. If anything, he is already overpaid

In the end man, being the starting QB at UT over Arizona or whatever still has value. You are gonna have the eyeballs and focus on you here.

Stepping down like that would almost seem to me to be like running and admitting he is not man enough. That's just me though.
Maybe some place like SMU. Lots of money for NIL, much less pressure, easier schedule.

I'll be curious how Heuple handles the transfer portal. I think you have to find another qb willing to compete for playing time.

He would have to sit out 2025 if he went to Florida-and they have Lagway (who may or may not be injured).

Hell, if it was Florida I would help Nico pack for the move After a year of watching Nico, Lagway scares me MUCH more.
He would probably just sue. That seems to be the end thing now. Lawsuits are so hot right now.

That was my point though.

To be a big time P2 QB-you have to want that. It comes with its own unique challenges, but also a big time payday.

Him stepping down like that voluntarily would just be like a public admission he wasn't good enough. Not like he's transferring for playing time or to get a shot. He transferring for money and "easier" and that easier part will get the NFL scouts attention very quick.

......and if that is the route he intends to take then so be it.

However, UT will not be picking up the legal freight this time. Those $1000/hr attorneys will take Nico's $2 million nest egg before the case is even scheduled lol.

I was half-joking.

The sad part being that this will probably be what happens though

Honestly, if he wants to sue that's between him and the SEC. As long as we are not paying the bills I don't care

The most hilarious part of all of this is I highly doubt that Nico and family started this with the goal of playing somewhere else. They like the attention they get here TOO much. At UCLA, he is just yet another kinda famous person in LA-whoopdie doo.

The problem they have now is I just don't see how the toothpaste is put back in the tube. The fanbase has already turned.

Nico was good enough to get Tennessee to the playoffs last year, he should be better next year.
What is it worth to make the playoffs?

I think both sides was playing a stupid game of chicken, but they failed to take into account the passion of the Vol fanbase. With all the other stuff going on in the news, this was the worst time to pull a little stunt like this.

This narrative needs to stop.

D. Sampson and the defense got us in the CFP.

Unless you consider taking a snap and handing it off good enough for that credit, go back and watch the season.

Bro, Nico was a great QB for us last season-until halftime of the Oklahoma game.

Whatever happened then changed everything.

He wasn't the same player after that.

Whatever games we won after that were mainly on our running game and D.

... These young men are not fools. Most have been around and seen teams, cliques, gangs, sets, and understand the notion of finding a group of like-minded individuals with common goals and interests to ride with. DO NOT FEAR VolNation. Imho, the "free-agents" will not be the norm or the most prominent commodities in the college football entertainment market. They will eventually be labeled as 'hazardous to team health', and relegated to faking-it, like any of their ilk in past history. They will not rule the day, and many will resent the Nico's of the world for messing it up for their prospective opportunities...

He got $2 million+ for not playing a down while red shirting behind Joe Milton. And then again last year for a decent season. Bumping him up now seems premature.
Can they maybe make an incentive heavy deal and if he does well, everyone's happy?

Wouldn’t surprise me if he’s back. Heupel won’t renegotiate though. Late transfer and new offense would be a terrible move for him. Kid is getting some awful advice. At same time I’m betting Heupel is letting some of this die down before he makes any decisions one way or the other.

If he does play this year, I bet Heupel has a shorter leash on him. No reason not to bench him and give other guys a chance if he’s struggling.
