Respectfully disagree. Unless it’s an absolute cluster**** I think Nico’s play will be limited to the 2nd half of blowout victories. This is Joe’s third year in the program, and he’s showed a lot of class these past couple seasons after losing the starting job to Hendon in 2021. It would’ve been easy for him to transfer but he stuck it out and the year-over-year improvement was very evident last season. Throughout everything he’s had a smile on his face and been a team guy. You gotta assume the locker room and coaching staff is 100% behind a guy like that. He carries himself with maturity and grace and he’s probably the most physically gifted quarterback in school history with his size and arm strength. Should be a solid guy for Nico to learn from before he takes over next season. Nico is 18, Joe is 23, I think the coaching staff knows what they have in both guys and right now it seems like it’ll be Joe’s team. Only my opinion.Milton is on a somewhat short leash and I’m sure he knows it. Think Nico plays the second half of the first non conference game and if he does well the noise will ratchet up on the first bad game or loss Milton has.
If Milton finishes the season as the starter I think it means we lost 2 games most and got atleast a NY6 bowl.

LOL what? What on earth makes you think Milton is on a short leash? It is FAR more likely the coaches are holding their breath hoping that he stays healthy and can start the whole year.Milton is on a somewhat short leash and I’m sure he knows it. Well, that would completely depend on why they lost, right? If he's under 50% completions and sharing the ball with the other team too much then it might become a consideration. Heupel doesn't seem to be a coach who is prone to jump out of the pan and into the fire. It would take a lot to move him from a guy he knows and trusts and has developed for a couple of years to a guy who still doesn't know what's going on.You think we lose the first two conference games he stays starter? I don’t. If you agree, that is a “somewhat” short leash.
You're almost certain to be disappointed unless Milton plays downright awful. I know you and others are anxious to see Nico but Milton has earned trust, knows the system, and will get Heupel's support. Those predicting or hoping for a quick hook are just setting themselves up to be mad at Heupel. If Joe plays consistently bad and is costing us games then Nico will get his shot. That's the same for any team. Joe has had one good game since he has been here and that was the Orange bowl. I hope he consistently plays at a high level but I can't say I'm confident that he will based on one game. I think we'll know by the Florida game if he has turned the corner
Depends how we lose it. If we lose due to QB play, yes but if we lose due to others (defense, OLine issues etc) then no. It will likely have to be very very bad games too, not average type for him to lose it.You think we lose the first two conference games he stays starter? I don’t.
