Nico on QB battle

It’s gymnastics because you went from not liking the idea of the “process" to implying he’s simply too good to worry about a redshirt, and even floated the possibility he might need it later…

I have seen some well thought out points from you. This ain’t one of em. You don’t like the idea of it so what you landed on after searching for a compelling justification is that a handful of snaps against Vandy’s (or insert other cupcake team here) second team are somehow going to make all the difference in the kid’s development.

So being honest, if the value of those snaps remains our disagreement, I remain unconvinced and see no point in going further. You can have the last word, I’m bored with this.
More than two games. Needs live action in game situations with non-scrubs sooner rather than later. Can’t get that on the bench, pantomiming. I don’t need a compelling justification…this is what I truly believe he’ll need before he takes over the helm.

I have no idea what your first paragraph was addressing, so I’ll take my last word and assume you know how profound it was.

Agree he's a different player. Not as heady in my opinion. Why do you think it will be necessarily irritating? I have an idea what you might mean but thought I should ask first.
Hooker owned that offense and was the consummate competitor. I hope I’m wrong about Joe. He seems like a good dude.

You may be in need of a bladed pill, with a Carolina reaper tail. Got quite a kick, I'm told. Here, have one.

You seem a fairly intelligent guy, at least you’re well spoken enough, but I’m not sure why you re-engaged on something we knew we didn’t agree on.

Your reasons are your own. He’s the backup anyway, just maximize his time. It’s wise management. It’s a difference of a few snaps that in all likelihood won’t be available anyway if we’re winning. Nico honestly needs time to add muscle mass as well.

Thanks for not being overly snappy in your last word, genuinely. I had to reply because I’m petty. I’m a work in progress.

I thought Helton's knee injury was sufficient to keep him out? Didn't they try Stewart first? IIRC, Manning was 4th string when Colquitt took the first snap.

He did get injured. Luckily it wasn't serious

Joe Milton has all the physical tools. His problems have always been mental. One or two bad games and he may be his own worst enemy.

It’ll work out…despite our efforts. 😏

Joe is the man for 2023.
That's it.
He's earned it. He will mentor Nico like Hooker mentored him.
Joe is finally a mature talent. He finally has knowledge of the offense to match the talent he brings to the table.
Yes but if Joe struggles early and we lose to Florida and South Carolina then yea it’s probaly Nico time after that. Joe will be on a short leash

Respectfully disagree. Unless it’s an absolute cluster**** I think Nico’s play will be limited to the 2nd half of blowout victories. This is Joe’s third year in the program, and he’s showed a lot of class these past couple seasons after losing the starting job to Hendon in 2021. It would’ve been easy for him to transfer but he stuck it out and the year-over-year improvement was very evident last season. Throughout everything he’s had a smile on his face and been a team guy. You gotta assume the locker room and coaching staff is 100% behind a guy like that. He carries himself with maturity and grace and he’s probably the most physically gifted quarterback in school history with his size and arm strength. Should be a solid guy for Nico to learn from before he takes over next season. Nico is 18, Joe is 23, I think the coaching staff knows what they have in both guys and right now it seems like it’ll be Joe’s team. Only my opinion.
Anyone betting against Joe at this point is dead to me. The dude has been nothing but a classy hard worker. Kept his head down worked hard, never complained. I mean what the heck else could you ask for? In his Opportunities to play he has done exceptionally. People act like the dude has been terrible or something.

His career stats at UT 85/144 59%completions 1346 yards 12 TDs and 0 ints. Oh yeah hes also rushed for 206 yards and 2 td's.. Even if you put in his numbers from Michigan its 17tds to 6 ints and 5 rushing tds.

It blows my mind how once someone gets tagged with something it just sticks and people accept it. His actual performance in games at UT has been great....If I showed you that stat line (1300 yards and 12 tds with 0 ints) 6 games into a season on a QB no one with sense would be unhappy. Yeah, there have been times he overthrew WR's. So does every other QB in every game they play. The difference is his balls tend to go to either our guy or no one and it hits our guy 60% of the time. Thats greek for ALL-American QB.

TLDR version the next int Milton throws will be his first as a VOL

Let's hope Joe has a great year. Nico gets into some late game situations.
2024 would look quite positive.

I'm pulling for Joe. He's such an awesome dude and deserves that position. I'm sure on his first bad game (if there is one) the fans will come down hard and start calling for Nico. I hope everyone remembers what Joe's done for us and the loyalty/commitment he's shown this team when the chips are down. I hope we, as fans, can back him up like he's backed up the team all along.
