Nico Question, Pardon My Ignorance

In fairness the WNBA and NFL are completely different pay grades.

A FB player making a mil in NIL his 3rd year out of highschool is probably worth 10x that in the NFL. Probably projected as in the top 3 rounds. Even 6th rounders get 3-4 million dollar contracts plus signing bonus.
Of course I was talking in generalities. Some make a bazillion and others not a bazillion

A 6th rounder in the NFL will sign a $4 million contract--but that's a four-year deal, no? And he'll only get a signing bonus of $230,00. And 6th
rounders might not even make the roster, and if they get cut, the contract and $4 million goes poof! A lot of 6th rounders get get in the first or second year.

Also, there's is no guarantee that just because a bunch of weird old male boosters with too much money give $1 million to a college freshman that he's going to become a upper-round draft pick. In fact, you'd could probably bet against it. It only means that college football has got crazy and stupid.

I know Nico Magic redshirted this past season, so he still has 4 to play.

Is he eligible to go pro during his 3rd year of college, or does he have to use 3 seasons of football eligibility?

So, can he go pro as a redshirt sophomore or must he stay?
Yes he can go after 2025 season

Probably get to enjoy him for 2 more seasons.

We will have to see how it all plays out but I don’t think a highly rated recruit that isn’t panning out by year 3 will still be getting a million NIL per year.

If in year 3 they are a major contributor and still making 1M or more in NIL then chances are they are a projected top 3 rounder by that point. I doubt many would choose to stay in that scenario.

Now I will say if a guy’s projection in year 3 is only rounds 5-7 then they might be willing to stay for a final year of eligibility for 5/6 figure NIL. Because if you fall in that range you could easily slide to UDFA territory. Definitely more a gamble when there is guaranteed money for another year of college.

I loved how fast our offense got up to the line with Nico. Hope this 8mill pays off, but the kid definitely has talent that can't be taught.

Did you try to convince Josh?
lol, no just my opinion, because of poor play by Joe and offensive scheme we ran because of Joe imo. Time will tell, if we go back to the offensive scheme we had in 2022 it was because of Joe, if the same scheme as this year was, then it was offensive play calling. I am looking forward to see if we have more down field passing and in the middle of the field pass routes in 2024.

Nico wasn't ready to play SEC football, mentally or physically, until late in the season. I think he progresses during the bowl preparation and gained a lot of confidence during the last half of the season. I think the coaches did an outstanding job in preparing him for his future.

No man, c'mon. This is just like Madden, where you plug him in and he's exactly what a 5-star is supposed to be. As far as I recall, there's no mental or physical development required.

We very well may have a more explosive offense with more downfield plays, but that doesn't change the fact that Joe was the best and only real option last season. Nico was not ready for SEC football - Heupel and the coaches knew it, and Nico's family knew it. The plan was laid out before he ever set foot on campus. Why is it so hard to understand that Nico was never going to be the guy last year, period.

Going Pro might be the last thing on athletes minds nowadays, being that many are making millions from NIL. Did you hear that Caitlin Clark is getting nearly a million from NIL and the WNBA won't be able to come near that number? Heck, stay in college

It's crazy the pay cut that the top NCAA WBB players are going to take when they graduate.

That is why I wanted him to play this year, I think we would have won one more game had he played all year. And would also be ready to really shine this coming year.
Or he could not have been ready and we had a worse season then his confidence is shook, recruiting takes a dive, and we lose the potential for a 4 year dynasty with the young man.
