Contracts are the way to fix this but schools refuse to go that route b/c they want to keep all the revenue for themselves.
Exactly.@UTwild82
I'd bet dollars to doughnuts Nico and any player that can start in the SEC is getting calls and texts weekly.
We need collective bargaining and contracts.
I think so. It will take a while to get there, but at some point I think coaches, ADs, and maybe even Presidents are going to have enough of players wanting new and better deals multiple times a semester in some cases players being on 3 rosters in a year. I just don't think college football can go a decade in this wild West we are currently in.Probably.
Interesting idea but is it seriously possible in today's CFB Rent-A-Player environ? ??
I agree and Yes we are approaching insanityI think so. I'm all for players being on scholarship. I'm all for them making money from sponsorships, jersey sales, video game likeness, etc. Heck, I'm cool with them getting a cut of the billions they generate each year. They've earned it. But at some point, players need to be locked in. Having to re recruit your roster each semester, monthly, or possibly weekly at this point is insane.
I think Nico will be a pretty good qb. But with his performance this year I don't see any team offering him more that he is getting at UT. Now if he has a real good year, they will and we will either have to match or lose him imoOP - I believe you and have serious doubts that Nico finishes his collegiate career here. I hope that I am wrong. Regardless, its my opinion that the pendulum has swung too far to the other side, giving players way too much control. This NIL stuff and transfer portal needs parameters very soon.
Cleaned it up for you, Doctor.First, there is no 100% predicting of the future. 2) You seem concerned about how you are personally underappreciated "I posted it on this board and was ridiculed." Let me strongly suggest that you review your self-esteem. 3) Everyone did not want to know anything yu posted. I, for one, certainly did not.
Pro Tip: If you don't want to be self-esteem challenged, don't post like a Goober.
You seem quite the hypocrite. I‘ve read your criticisms of others, including myself, when they have made derogatory comments of other posters yet here you are calling someone FOS. Maybe you should remember to practice what you preach.Source that knows the what’s happening in the athletic departments of Bama, Miami, Georgia, and Oregon. A source that had information disclosed by all of those programs that is punishable by the NCAA. And this source that has all those programs trust is loose lipped enough to share? Yeah you’re FOS. Not kind of or a little but completely FOS.
I think good news is that w/ JH, we're starting to become a destination for QBs...which is great that the head coach and not OC is the reason for the attraction. Want Nico here, for sure, but if he bails, w/ present (Merklinger) and incoming talent (George McIntyre, Faison Brandon) at QB, I think, as a whole the QB position for the foreseeable should be a position of strength...which is much more than one can say for most of our SEC rivals. QB is the most important position in sports and think we're at least in a spot better than most if the worst happens and we are without Nico at some point.OP - I believe you and have serious doubts that Nico finishes his collegiate career here.
