Nico Turned a Corner

So what’s your best option for the field?
I mean honestly we know you’re talking directly about Nico, so do you really think there is a better option behind him?
I’m looking forward and taking nothing for granted. Nico has not yet won me over as the future (let alone the present). There’s Juco, portal, recruiting. I am not ready to bet next year on Nico; plus, need to think backup.

Keep the talent coming and always put the best on the field.

I wonder if Bama fans woke up this morning saying Milroe sucks. It seems like he made just as many overthrows and misses as Nico

I think it’ll click for Nico at some point and he could very well win a heisman at some point, but the question is when will it click? If it clicks this year, it’ll be a fun playoff run.
It clicked with about 12 minutes left in the 2nd quarter

Lol okay. Nico is the man with or without you

Time will tell. Nico certainly needs to get more consistent.

The long pass down the right sideline was well-executed… Nico moved right immediately after the snap and made the pass on the run. Getting him out of the pocket sooner may help. He’s still missing wide open receivers.

Not a hater. Just an observer who wants the best option on the field.
He executed a lot more than that 1 play well. Made perfect throws to Brazzel and Staes in the red zone and had a perfectly thrown bomb that Squirrel dropped. He was a championship caliber QB after he got dinged up.

milroe total rushing yards where 11 yards on 14 carries 1 TD & 2 interceptions, he has 3 mediocre pedestrian games in a row. Far removed from the ill-fated preseason Heisman hype.

Surely you believe Nico is our best option

Just saw Patrick Mahomes overthrow a wide open receiver and then follow it up with an interception while under a bit of pressure.

He doesn't need to win you over. The total tonnage of what Heupel knows about QB play that you don't know, would stun a full team of oxen

Nico started out rough again, then something happened. He got dinged and went out of the game. When he returned, the crowd started chanting “Nico, Nico” and he looked a lot different in a big way. He’s hitting passes and well timed runs. I think he grew up a lot in this game. The O Line stepping up helped as well. Great win!
Heupel just needed to bench him for a series.

This bad play went on for almost 4 games until he finally got knocked out briefly. He was forced to sit down.

Nico will be fine...but will for sure continue to have growing pains...it is a team sport though and OL/WRs must carry their weight. If a QB's struggling, when a WR gets two hands on a ball, they've got to make the catch. Case in point, if Hooker and Hyatt were out there yesterday, I don't think this game would have been close. I think an absolute must, EVERY SINGLE WEEK, is Bru gets 10 targets minimum. If he catches 7-8 balls, I like our chances of winning.

I think they need to run Nico early in the game, more often. Sometimes QB runs are what gets the juice going for many qbs.

I’m just a fan with an opinion. I’m just say’n when I look at stats and give Nico the ol’ eye test, I’m not convinced yet he’s The One. He may be. Me and a lotta media/VFL types just aren’t quite convinced yet and I’m not going all in with my chips on Nico.

This thread says he’s turned a corner. That would mean 1.5 quarter. Not enough to make that proclamation.

Patience and fortitude. Time will tell. In the mean time, we all know staff is searching/recruiting talent.

He needed that hit to realize exactly what he's made of. If you noticed on those runs he ran hard and He lowered his shoulders. That hit he took pissed him off but also Set of the light in his head. You will see him get better from here on.
Agreed. All season when running the ball he would fold at the slightest hint of contact, that changed in the 2nd half.

We looked to be playing quicker. Less time to think and just ballin seemed to help him out.

the offense is improving in the first half. Yardage totals are going up since Arkansas. We have to finish drives and stop turning the ball over for it to show up on the scoreboard. You take away that bad bad pick Nico threw and turn it into a touchdown and make those field goals its a 34 point performance.
