It is rigged..During Penn st game ref went over to franklin told him the next play would be a flag ..Franklin then asked is it on Us or them ..Then on the next play there was a flag on the other team .Been rigged I know of every since Bama beat Texas ...Needless to say Colt took a dive ..I think texas or penn state wins it but ND would be a feel good story ...
ND winning a football championship is never a feel good story unless it's over Gump or UGA or Gata.

I think the process will eventually blow up on the big spenders. They will get the "big headed" 4 and 5 star players that will constantly demand more money or they won't play or play with halfway effort.

A team that has built a team of solid 3 and some 4 stars might have the advantage. Kind of reminds me of some of those teams in Basketball like Butler or Davidson that weren't necessarily loaded with top talent but build a solid team around core players.
Basketball and football . . . apples and oranges. Because of the physicality required in football, small schools can’t compete with powerhouse schools in college football like they can in basketball. Boise State could make the CFP 1,000 times in its current format and never win it. You have to have elite players . . . the more you have, the better your chances.

The fledgling Professional Collegiate Athletic Association will ensure the smaller programs fade into obscurity... along with those meaningless bowls everyone hates so much. Nothing but championships that only corporations can afford tickets to attend. It will be glorious.

He's wrong about how it will blow up. It will blow up when people, large donors and small get tired of the yearly free agency and stop/reduce the money train.

I would wager that is already going on-albeit on a small scale for the time being

While I have no issues with the players making some cash, things are getting out of hand.

A player comes in expecting to be a role player and over night morphs into an All American performer? Sure, his NIL may be due for an upgrade.

When you are already paying a kid an absurd amount of $$ and he doesn't perform as expected YET wants more money? Lol.

Not exactly gonna convince the guy working a desk job making $70K a year to cough up more dough though. Is probably going to cause them to do the opposite and lower.their donations, correct?

Apparently everyone on this board is happy with the officiating they are seeing. I have watched very little of the CFP, but some of the calls make me question if things are on the up and up. Just from what I have seen it seems rigged. I don’t think Tenn is NC material, but I see certain teams getting favorable calls, or calls such as holding or pass interference being interpreted different. With tv money and money being waged you know tv doesn’t want another Ga vs TCU debacle.

They just need to have fully dedicated professional referees in college football. Plain and simple. It’s clear the guys that are doing it are not capable of knowing the rules, and applying the rules consistently. We’ve seen too many examples of blown calls or just straight up baffling calls, sometimes after a review. There are absolutely “losing team needs to get back in the game” calls happening, which is a problem in itself but who knows where that decision is coming from. There were some calls in the ND/UGA game last night that were absolutely baffling and most went in favor of the team that was losing. Obviously there are dead ball penalties they have to call - false start etc - because everyone can see it. There’s too many examples of this happening and it’s becoming more apparent every year.

Not really.

I have seen OSU playing lights out for their first 2 games.

There will always be bad calls.

Tier. NIL is not a salary, it represents pay for name, image and likeness, so I'm not sure how a cap will work here. Keep in mind that the minute you put a limit on the amount that players can make, whether it be by NIL or direct payment from universities, you once again open the door to cheating of the Gump variety.

Saban is the only one that got loaded talent and could continually put it out without disruption. Notice most the other dynasties went 3-4 years and then faded. Examples:

Urban Meyer 2x at Florida and Ohio State
Fulmer at Tennessee (Kelly Washington I am the future ring a bell?)
Pete Carroll at USC
Jim Tressell at Ohio State
Jimbo Fisher at Florida State
Larry Coker at Miami

Etc. Look it up, these teams recruited sometimes even better than the classes that won their titles but never got that glory back.

The players are not employees of the UTAD. Players can however sign contracts with sponsoring organizations with all sorts of options including some with performance metrics.

Anyone else thrown off by the random change of subject here?
