No CSU For Jancek

Most contract payouts are based on firing without cause. If it was "mutual" or if it was firing with cause, I'd hope we don't owe him anything.

UOTE=508mikey;12287343]Surprised he hasnt got a offer from a Big 12 school --- most of them are known for their lack of defense

We need drum roll smililes[/QUOTE]

Well, in recent memory, I can name two: Iowa/Taxslayer and Northwestern/Outback to mention a couple, despite the pre-bowl games hype. UT say" whack, take that! I doubt too many people will be looking forward to having us meet them in bowl games, or elsewhere in 2016 and beyond for the foreseeable future. Hey, we paid our dues, now to moving on up.

I don't think he's gonna have a hard time finding a job based strictly on his performance as DC while he was here. I ain't mad at him.

Exactly, I can't believe anyone had anything disparaging to say about him after the mess that was Sunseri... Our defense has generally been good and has at times been dominant.

Am I missing something here?

As the guys above stated, I think the firing probably had as much, if not more, to do with off the field problems than on. He was an above average DC, but apparently Butch didn't like some of the company CJJ was bringing around the team and recruits. Oh well, his loss is our gain.

We fired him, so we will owe the buyout, unless UT had some damn good attorney write the contract who included a really stringent morality clause.

They promoted their LBers coach to DC...anyone tossed out a figure as to what we owe Jancek if he doesn't get a gig?

Colorado State: Marty English has been formally announced as the program’s new defensive coordinator.

It was stated somewhere that he would get his full salary for next year 560k and a 20k bonus. Not positive on that though.

Well, the release said it was mutual. So, maybe he was told he could save face if he agreed to walk away. If there were even off field issues. Maybe they agreed to pay him a smaller figure also.

Then you must have missed the Florida, Oklahoma, and Alabama games

No I saw all of them. I also saw players in position to make plays and fail to do so on multiple occasions. I also saw the offensive coaches put the brakes on too early and the head coach call untimely timeouts. I'm not saying Jancek was the greatest but he was pretty durn good in my book. I think Shoop is an upgrade but he's gonna have to be very good for us to improve.

There's plenty of blame to go around.

I think most any coach would consider holding bama to 19 points a win for any defense.

yep cause you know, according to PSU fans, it was Pry that made Shoop look good :)

Penn State: Co-defensive coordinator / linebackers coach Brent Pry has been promoted to defensive coordinator / associate head coach. Pry has spent the past five years with James Franklin at PSU and Vanderbilt. In addition, cornerbacks coach Terry Smith has added the title of assistant head coach, and defensive line coach Sean Spencer has added the title of run game coordinator

Maybe an undisclosed financial transaction between he and a concerned party other than UT soften the sting of a "mutual" agreement?? :search::search:

Some of the conjecture here seems off base, because we don't know the whole story. But from various semi-reliable accounts, it seems there may have been an off-field issue.

I almost feel sorry for the guy for getting fired. We had a good defense at times, except for that time a bunch of guys were standing around on the field observing FL convert 4th and 14 or whatever it was for the win.

On the other hand, I'm a little suspicious of guys sporting goatees and brown three-piece suits.

I was half kidding, because like you said there was enough mistakes by DC, OC, and head coach. Either way, I think this will be huge improvement and hopefully other mistakes do not repeat themselves. :good!:

Has MISS ST hired a DC? Maybe Dan Mullen takes a look at Jancek.

"Mutual" in a dictatorship like UT football means you got fired.

Oh, I have no doubt he was fired. Especially after his Tweet-a-thon. I just think that he was possibly encouraged to leave "mutually." As in, Jones lets him 'not get fired' and in turn they agree on a smaller severance amount.

Otherwise, why have the release that states it was mutual? What would be our benefit if we owe him the entire amount?

When your offense folds up their tent and the D is on the field the entire 2nd half, stuff like that happens. Blame an inept passing game for part of Jancek's D's issues in the 4th qtr.

Even though I've been hard on him about the 3-4 losses (yes, even the Bama game, cause one stop on 3rd down, during their last drive and we win that game), but the defense overall was above average...even really good at times. Especially in the first half of a lot of games.

His big problem was he was too skeered to rest his starters enough so that they didn't peter out in the 4th Qtr. Against Top 25 teams, you HAVE to do that! He claims he didn't trust the backups enough to put them in, but IT IS HIS RESPONSIBILITY to get them ready to rotate in.

The offense has some share of blame, but Jancek just refused to rotate players in, so that the starters didn't wear down in the 4th Qtr....which they did.
