No Hugh for auburn

I dunno man. He has about as much job security at Liberty that a man could ask for. All he has to do is be careful with the old cell phone.

Maybe Auburn gives him another million a year to start but is it really worth the headaches?
Very true Hugh could be saying i've had enough headaches and pressure.

Yup, sometimes simply being the "Boogeyman" gives you more power than actually doing anything.

Look at the NFL and Los Angeles. They used LA for a decade to get more and more public funding for stadiums. Finally moved a couple of teams to LA and most of the people there would be shocked to learn the Chargers play there.

Same thing with us playing the Boogeyman and Gundy. We have gotten him raises three times simply because we had a job opening and wanted to talk to him.

If Auburn was smart, they'd either offer Kendall Briles, give him the best recruiting staff they could find and let him roll.

or

Give Bill Clark the reigns and give him 5 years to build that program the right way.

I'm going to assume they do neither because they're very dumb.

Clark retired due to severe back issues, think he had to have surgery on it. Not sure he's coming back to the game.

While he did retire due to back issues, I believe some of it had to do with disagreements with UAB themselves.

He would definitely have to be healthy of course.

Why would he want more? Almost 5mil per with nowhere near the hassle and stress of an SEC job is a pretty damn good gig.
This.

Liberty is such an easy gig for $5M per year. He can easily produce "results" there without having to deal with Bama, UT, GA, or the godawful mess that is Auburn.

In 2030 Hugh Freeze will be 61 and even conservatively (and buying a helluva lot of hookers) he'll have $30M in the bank with that deal.

I love football and challenges and inflating my ego as much as anyone but a guaranteed $40M deal to coach Liberty is as absurd as the $90M aTm blessed Jimbo with.

It's "F U money" and then some.

(For those who don't know the term.... NSFW)

Maybe they leave him alone and let him pursue his hobbies without fear of losing his job. Work life balance you know…

Hugh certainly knows about about F U money. We‘ll see if he learned about burner phones.

Hugh seems happy. Got his life back in order and back to the roots of his faith. Good for him and hope he enjoys success at Liberty. He still has a lot of friends back in Jackson Tn where he started his college career.
Don't think I've heard Kiffy get a new contract. You would think he'd jump at the chance to make that move. Personally, I hope he leaves the SEC and takes Pearl with him.

Even with this extension, I still think that Freese is still one of the top candidates on Auburn's coaching board.

I dunno. This idea seems a bit more fan-heavy than school-based. It feels a lot like when everyone was predicting the return of Bobby Petrino to an SEC school…the way Freeze got fired and the ultimate reasons/actions that caused him to get fired burned a lot of bridges in this conference and made a lot of SEC schools not comfortable bringing him on and employing him.

Honestly. Right now Ole Miss is a better job and you don’t have a ride shotgun with Bama every day to work. I think he stays put. I could see Kiff at Texas/OU in a few years after they jump to the SEC.

just tossing pasta to see what sticks…..

Kiffy just got a big raise last year. He’s at around $7 million per year. It’ll be expensive to poach him for whoever tries.

Good points. I know he's dying to get a rabid fan base to energize the program. Pretty sure he'd find Auburn a bit better than Ole Miss....Grove excluded of course.
