No one storms the field the way the TENNESSEE VOLS do!

Not sure how I feel about this honestly.....we should never be in a position where we do storm the field for a win......Just saying
Yeah, but we are.... and probably will be for awhile.

But it will be nice when we make other teams feel that way about us

A few questions for all the anti-storming folks. Is waiting for the team at the airport or campus after a win bad form also? What about a parade or celebration at the stadium/arena after a championship? How far does the "we're just too damn cool to celebrate" go?

By my memory, the field has been stormed 5 times since 1980, Bama in '82, Auburn & Vandy in '85, UF in '98 and Bama in 2022. This isn't something that happens that often and no way in the world a scene like this every 10 to 20 years this is a negative.

I don't think " either side " is right or wrong . I want students to get excited about games, pack the stadium, and raise hell. It's what makes it more fun that watching a knitting tutorial. Some of us "blue hairs" just remember when we might have lost, but we expected to win every game, so it just feels silly to see us tearing down goal posts like App St vs Michigan kind of thing.

I am more in the being concerned-that-someone-gets-bonked-on-the head-by-the-goal-posts camp. Call me a blue hair, but it doesn't seem worth the risk.

Traumatic brain injury, spinal injury and even death have been byproducts of toppled goalposts. In October 2010, I personally watched Wisconsin students being pinned against a railing in Camp Randall Stadium and nearly crushed by their fellow fans who were surging forward behind them to get on the field after upsetting Ohio State—a harrowing scene. Miraculously, there were no serious injuries, but 17 years earlier that was not the case in that same venue. A field storm after beating Michigan resulted in 73 injuries, six of them critical.

We should never be in a position where we take winning for granted and "expect it to happen" so much that we forget how to celebrate an incredible moment in time.

Congratulations to Duke for whipping Clemson. I had a friend talk about how great it was storming the field. I felt it looked a bit amateurish compared to the previous third Saturday in October. We have the best fan base in the College Football! Go Vols!

Their lack of numbers doesn't make it amateur! That was a great win for their program! I hope they do it more!

Last storming the field if we are undefeated and beat #1 Georgia only if they are number 1

So I guess when we win the National Championship this year, we should just act like it is no big deal and not yell or celebrate too loudly!

Seriously, the ending of the Bama game with the fireworks, the enthusiasm of the students and crowd is what makes college football better, IMO, than the NFL.

Yeh , I've often wondered how many people have been knocked unconscious when those things come crashing down.

Did they fine Duke??? Not that they should but if they are going to be fair they need to go grab the money.

I was there for everyone but the game in 1980. Great memories and great times. This year we take the party to the streets, bars and restaurants after the game though. Let somebody complain about that. GBO!

Oh if that had happened the media would have been all over it. The few times the goal post have came down and folks have came on the field I have never seen or heard of a problem. I doubt it happens again soon, even if we beat Georgia. But you can bank on Rocky Top rockin all night if we win! GBO

We’re old school in that I always was told and coached “act like you’ve done it before.” But I understand the energy and sincerity when it happens.

This! People tend to forget that this is a game.. if students want to rush the field who cares? Let them have fun

I was super happy to see duke get that win and storm the field. Good for them. I bet there’s not many empty seats in that stadium the rest of the year.

We got more good press and recognition for that field storm than anything we have done since winning the NC. I have watched it hundreds of times. watching it now as a matter of fact.

I was on the field along with everybody else in 1982 when UT upset Alabama 35-28 to end a 12-game losing streak. UT was not ranked. The experience was awesome!

I was not on the field last October and happily watched from the stands, remembering 1982. The 2022 win was a bigger spectacle and broke a longer losing streak - it was more fun. Exuberance and spontaneity like that is understandable.

My son was 6 in 1998 when UT stormed the field after beating Spurrier and Florida in OT. After much of the rush was over, I took him on the field and we were among the last few to leave. Meanwhile, he was on the field in 2022.

History sort of indicates it might happen again. I’m sure hoping there is no reason for it at least for the next 40 years.

If we are in the top 5 and GA is in the top 3 and we beat them this year, there will probably be another.

I'm gonna go easy on the Duke fans. This is a new experience for them in this sport!

There was evidently a bunch of students who leapt from the stands, ran onto the field, worked their way down the sideline, grabbed the trainer's tape scissors...

and cut down the field goal kicker's practice net.

It actually makes more sense for us to tear down Bama's goal posts when we beat them again this year. Not only will we enjoy pillaging their crap field, but also with the new SEC rule, *Bama* would have to pay the $100K fine. Then another $500K in 2027 when we tear them down for the 3rd year in a row.

"...The SEC plans to increase fines for fans rushing the field or court following a game according to new guidelines announced Thursday. The first offense will cost the home school $100,000, the second $250,000 and $500,000 for subsequent violations. The league also announced all institutions will start with a clean slate in 2023."
