No Opponent Offensive Holding penalties in SEC play

This is gonna start catching steam now that someone has put the stat out. Hopefully the coaches bring it up in their midweek meetings with the officials and gameday commentators

This ticks me off, we went 6-7 games last year before getting a single holding call against opponents OL. Arky held horribly twice and wasn’t flagged, once Pearce got held against Arky terribly right in front of ref and no call. We have already had a few picky ones called against us. Same thing in Florida game Joseph’s got grabbed and held onto and no call. We seem to always get screwed in the holding department. They miss obvious ones against us and we pick up the picky ones. Maybe it’s just bad luck but in the Arky game even the broadcast booth questioned on that was called against us and even ask how in Haiti did they miss Pearce get mugged that was a terrible miss. GBO

I don't remember a holding call against any of our opponents when they have the ball.
Nope Florida had 2 false starts but no holdings. We seem to never get that call even when it’s obvious Pearce was going to sack Arky quarterback easily and lineman reached out and pulled his jersey a foot away from shoulder pad jerking Pearce backwards. They got a big play out of it also, one of their TD’s off that drive. It would have been at least a 10 yard sack if it more. Announcers even said how did he miss that. Ref appeared to be staring at it. Heupel does have to stay on them about that. Nico also got clubbed in the head twice against Florida with no call. GBO

There is no way that is a coincidence. Also, the holding calls against Tennessee only seem to be called when we have big plays.
So, if anyone could find data or communications regarding this “conspiracy”, it would be a federal crime since it crosses state lines.

I always hate opening this can of worms, but these stats are damning. I understand missed holding calls happen all the time. But not like this consistently to the same team with the stats to prove it

To me you can say that the penalties on UT Offense are legit and show lack of discipline but when you consider how many penalties our opponents average before and after us but miraculously little or no penalties when playing UT, it is damming.

Pearce’s mugging against Arky should have gotten that official sent to the sec office that is over officiating. It was so blatant and front and center, the official was literally right there. It yanked JP backwards. Herbstreit and Fowler even remarked how did that not get called.

It's almost statistically impossible for us to get a holding call every time Nico breaks off a long run and other teams can seemingly block perfectly once their QB takes off.

Hate to tell you but it didn’t last year. The Kentucky game last year was the worst I’ve ever seen and I think that was like the 3rd or 4th consecutive game without a live ball penalty on the other team’s offense. We were talking about it already, radio, fans etc. but the holding in that Kentucky game was absolutely egregious. No body actually cares except Tennessee fans
