No reason we should lose this game

A wise once told me “ there is a reason you have a big windshield and a tiny rear view mirror bc where you are going is a lot more important that where you have been”. My post was based off this 2023 matchup and again I believe we are the better team and we should win. If we don’t it is more about us than it is Florida.

I think people aren't realizing to that Florida has 3 dline that weight over 360. One of em weighs 410. If we go fast and keep Florida from subbing we're gna gash the **** out of them. I honestly think if Joe plays well it's a blow out. If he doesn't play well we win by 3-10. Go vols

That's a good point.

I picked us to lose 38-20, but this is a game that could go a lot of different ways given the inconsistency shown by both teams. We're a veteran team and they're very young, so I think one key is we have to go out there and be very, very physical and treat them the same way the Tennessee basketball treated Duke in the NCAA Tournament.

Lol. Way to jinx it.
Now listen here, Imma bring truth.

Its okay to joke and cut up about jinxes in other games because it's funny and errbody knows there's no such thing.

But it's different with the Florida game. Errbody at one time or another has believed, and many still do, in a curse/jinx/voodoo thang when it comes to this game. It ain't funny and if we ever expect to move on from whatever the fork and spoon this is, we have to stop talking about.

A win tonight should do exactly that.

Go Vols!!

If Florida stops our running game and forces us to pass, we are in trouble. I do think we are a more talented team than they are but there is absolutely a path to victory for them. Plus BHGS will be good and lathered up by kickoff. That place will be as hostile as they come.

You boys keep the positive mojo running. I’ve seen the Vols fumble, bumble and stumble their way to defeat in this series long enough that I never feel like it’s a win.

Sometimes it is better to keep character deficiencies to one's self. This type expression in the locker room would not go unchallenged, not sure what the proper response is in a forum where folks identify themselves as fans. I seriously doubt the legend whose line you have used as your name would allow you stay in a booth with him if you publicly uttered those words in his presence. Kind of a disservice to him and his memory. The BVS syndrome as a defense has it's limits.

Our fan base will have zero to do with tomorrows outcome
He didn't actually say it would. Many of our fans believe in the Florida blackwater sawgrass alligator gar voodoo curse and whether or not it has any effect on the game or not it is a problem with our fans.

And I'm not so sure the fans definitely will have Zero to with the outcome of the game. How can it be proven either way?

This is one of the worst Florida teams we have played in a long time, swamp or not we should win.

You are correct about us having the better team....BUT in this series we are world champions at snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

One promising thought is we secured the win last year. I was at all the home games last year and when they got the onside kick....Neyland stadium immediately went to pins and needles. It felt like "oh hell, we have see this story before, the bomb, the touchdown, the loss."

Look for gator defenders dropping to the ground like Ole Miss 2021.

another example then. :)

Memphis lost 21-17 in 1996.... I really could give you a long list of games with really good coaches on the losing end.. That Tennessee team in 96 was far greater than this one and that Memphis team was far worse than this Florida team... not reasonable Tennessee should have lost, but they did....
Indeed. For a team with guys like Manning, Wilson, Graham, Peerless and Nash to lose to Memphis State just blows the mind. North Texas, Rutgers and the like were upsets, but that 96 team losing to Memphis has to rank as one of the most surprising. Guess they should have fed "day 1 starter" Brian Darden the ball and they wouldn't have lost?

Agreed. I always approach this game with caution. I still remember the times that florida would look bad against some MAC school and then still beat us a week later.

Tennessee is the better team. To me, this game comes down to six inches, the space between every players‘ and coaches’ ears.

I wouldn't make any assumptions just yet. The Swamp has the same evil juju that Jordan-Hare has especially when it involves the Vols. Probably cast by some witch living in the backwoods of Kentucky.

We need to get a 3 score lead early and take the stadium out of the equation.

The age gap in our posters has become so apparently obvious in the last couple years, I’m an old head (46). I would hate to think that I would have to stand arm to arm with 95% of the ppl that are on this site. Defeated and scared….

Turnovers and not executing are always reasons we could lose. If we pass like we did against Austin Peay, we will lose. Florida always finds a way to play like Florida again against Tennessee. Expect a very good team to show up against us Saturday.

I will say this. If we lose this game, just play Nico the rest of the way. Assuming he is healthy. Because if we lose this one, we ain't beating Bama or UGA.
I hope I'm wrong, but I'm thinking there's still going to be a Milton debate after today's game. For people on each side of the fence, there will be an argument.

this game is on Milton. Not just his passing, but getting us out of runs at the LOS. And his ability to run the ball. Last year Hooker was the leading rusher. We will learn a lot about who we will be this year today.

Agreed, quarterback play in this offense is paramount

You are assuming Milt will be THE problem. We seem to find ways that do not reflect the play of the QB (who ever it has been all the way back to Manning). Remember the rest of the offense AND the defense who usually finds a way to lay an egg.
