No Review / Refereeing Issues

I’d never seen that crew before but they clearly knew the Sankey agenda….screw Tennessee. The Nico play was ********. He never stepped out. You’ll never convince me Fla never held once in that game.
I blame the officials for the win. Darn officials !!!!!

I was more aggravated about the Sampson run.
Clearly a touchdown
Maybe someone can verify this. There was a post on another site that there has only been one live ball penalty called on Tennessee's opposition in the last three games. If this is true, then UT needs to really take this to the top. I have seen several holding and pass interference no calls. Also do you think we are still paying for the behavior at the end of the Ole Miss game. All that mess was against the refs not The Ole Miss players and the refs may still be doing some type of in your face payback.

Holding is the only penalty that could literally be called every play. I truly believe the refs throw a flag to slow the offense down. They just don’t want to have to keep up with our speed.

I would be curios to see if Ole Miss is flagged as much. They are the only ones who can compare.

Yeah, the "holding" always seemed to occur after a critical 3rd down conversion or a good yardage gain for us but they never got a single holding flag... BU!!SHIRT
I will say that it is surprising that opposing offenses have been able to play so many snaps against a truly dominant UT pass rush/DL with so few holds.

Saw screen shots that were posted somewhere on here earlier today.

I get the confusion but the thought that we were jobbed that bad and no one in the stadium caught it seems a bit unbelievable
Post the pics

The Fl. Punt return when it set up their last score. Everyone needs to go back and watch it closely

On the Nico out of bounds play, I think I saw Heupel motioning for the guys to get lined up and also waiving off the referee...I don't think CJH wanted to stop for a review there as it seemed like the game was finally starting to get some kind of rhythm. That said, I think CJH knew while it may have not been the best spot, he wasn't going to gain the 1st down with a review.

As far as the sampson run goes, I think it was a good call by the referee. In those situations it is so, so, very hard to judge a touchdown in a pile that isn''t moving like that, so just err on the side of caution and call the play dead at the inches line with no forward progress. Of course all that changes IF that would have been a 4th down, or 3rd down play called.
Just now reviewing this thread. With regard to Sampson’s run, I disagree. The pile may not have been moving much, but Sampson was. He never stopped, and as far as I could tell was never really in anyone’s grasp. The linesman on the Florida side of the field raised his hand almost immediately when Sampson hit the pile. My first thought was “Is this the same guy that made the
“forward progress” call in the bowl game?” (Or the non-fumble in the Ole Miss game.) That was a bad call in no uncertain terms. Contrast that to the many times we see these goal line plays where players pile up on the line and these linesman run into the center to see where the runner is laying at the end of the play before they make any call. I agree sometimes forward progress is stopped, but please wait more than a few milliseconds before you make the call.

I get what you're saying. I like going back and watching the games on Wednessay or Thursday of that week...kind of.like watching a good action movie the second time, ton of things you miss. This is definitely one play I'll take a closer look.

I love the ‘Sankey was trying to screw Tennessee’ posters. Why on earth would Sankey and the SEC want Tennessee to lose to Florida? That would have practically killed Tennessee’s chances of making the playoffs. Plus, it would have ruined the monster doubleheader we have this Saturday. A Tennessee loss to UF would make the Bama/TN game this weekend an afterthought nationally.

What about the block in the back on UF's final punt return which set them up for the tying touchdown? I ref was standing RIGHT THERE. I can see others were talking about it. I was screaming at the TV and I saw it. I'm 61 and wear glasses - but even I could see it on TV.

I was at the Florida game. I can say for a fact that the official who threw the flag for holding after Nico had a good first down run waited to see the result of the play before throwing the flag.

Two live ball fouls, one hold late in the 4th at Oklahoma and the blindsided block on the kickoff vs FL.

Remember last season Tennessee's opponents in 4 road games were called for a grand total of 2 live ball penalties., a hold in the 1st quarter at UF and a defensive PI in the 4th quarter at Mizzou. In between those were 14 consecutive quarters with no live ball fouls on Tennessee opponents

Our tackles are not letting go once Josh is out of the pocket. They are supposed to but, I feel that they don’t see where he is because he’s behind them thus they are not letting go. Calls, for the most part, are correct.

I couldn't find a thread on this, but there are 2 plays I had an issue with the call.

4th Qtr, 13:20. I think Nico makes the first down on 3rd and 8. They marked him 3 yards short but nothing touched down before he crossed the 1st down marker. There was no review.

Overtime, 1st and goal. Sampson's momentum is never stopped and he scores a TD. Why did the refs blow the whistle? It was pretty early into the run. Reminiscent of the bowl loss to UNC where the refs blew the whistle early.

I think there were a few more but these are the 2 I remember. Please post if you remember others.
These are the two that stuck out to me as well.
Either incompetence or on the take.
No excuse for it either way…….

I think the better question is why didn't Heupel challenge it, particularly the Nico spot? If it was truly that bad of a call.

Given Heupel never even came close to using his coach's challenge, I imagine it's none of those that you're claiming.
