Florida game was awesome. That winning shot actually made me yelp out loud and wake my dog lol

I think it's awesome to see the SEC reppin 3 of the Elite 8 teams personally, but I sure wouldn't complain if Florida and Kentucky could lose their next games.

So either Florida, South Carolina, 11 seeded Xavier, and Gonzaga (who has never made the final four) will be in the national championship game. Wow.

How's this for a stat:

This is Florida's fifth Elite Eight in the last seven years.

There was a discussion on this board of programs in college basketball and where they belong, etc.

Like football, Florida's basketball history is so poor that it's not possible to put them in the same sentence, or even paragraph, with Kentucky, Kansas, etc.

However, with a win over South Carolina, it would be the third coach in program history to take Florida to the Final Four.

At that point, I think a strong case is being made that they can be discussed in that 2nd tier group of basketball programs.

I didn't think Donovan leaving was the end of Florida basketball, but I did think it was the end of championship level basketball. So, another coach getting Florida to the Final Four would be a huge statement for the program.

Congrats to UF. You've got a good one.

I think Florida is right there in that 2nd tier.

Not yet. But getting there. Last night helps. Has to be a selling point to recruits.

We really don't get a serious look from NBA talent. They still gravitate to Kentucky, North Carolina, Kansas, Duke, and the like. Those four really have the pick of the litter.

But if we show sustained success with B level talent, hopefully we draw some looks from some of the better Florida high school kids.

Overall historically maybe not, but they've had just as much success as any program the last 10-15 years or so.

Last night for sure only helps. I thought with losing BD we would have seen a greater falloff, but it hasn't happened

Glad the SEC is showing out. That's helps come tournament selection time to have a strong conference.

But I'd like to see USC make the Final 4, and thought it would be easier for them to beat Wisconsin than Florida

According to uncle Verne there is a real discussion going on that cbs will do the intro tomorrow with the SEC on CBS college football theme.

Oregon with two ridiculous threes at the end of the half to be up 11 against Kansas. I'm super impressed with the Ducks overall. I thought Kansas had the best shot to win the title now. Look bad tonight without Mason keeping them alive.
