Doo Wop, what's the feeling of most Boneyard fans re: Bueckers becoming the current "it girl" in wcbb? I noticed on the first page on the BY, about every third thread is about Bueckers. We all agree that she is already an outstanding player (I liken her play to John Stockton's ruthless efficiency as a PG although she carries much more of the scoring load and displays the opposite of his stoic personality).

Any worries from UConn fans that the media exposure might have a negative effect on team chemistry? Or do the older players embrace that as long as she is leading the offense and producing? There doesn't seem to be any danger of the attention going to her head...she seems to be a team-first athlete.
I don't know about some UConn fans but I am tired of hearing so much about her. I indicated that in a thread I posted on the BY. She is one of the best I have ever seen but there comes a time when enough is enough about one player playing in a team game. Like you said, there are so many separate threads about her. Everyone by now knows she is a rare talent and one of the very best but how often do we need to hear it. And no, I don't think it affects the team chemistry in a negative way. If it did, Geno would straighten that out very quickly. Probably, UConn fans are just so glad to have another superstar that they cannot contain themselves. Maybe if I was a much younger person I would not be able to contain my joy either.

ESPN is becoming unwatchable. They’re trying too hard to make Paige the next big thing . She’s good but she’s not unstoppable . It’s so annoying how much they bring her up every game even if UCONN IS NOT PLAYING!

Even on the SEC network. Male announcer has mentioned her several times. Annoying AF.

If she ended up at Florida they would have a dynamic trio with Briggs, Smith and Hall. They could use PG. Both Smith and Briggs are better suited to being off the ball.
I don't know if it will be Florida but she probably finds a school in the state she is from there. She would be a value here even with all the people we have lined up at point guard may be better than all of them as far as running a team and certainly shooting the three.

Going to piggy back on this a little — there has been some speculation on the BY that Paige emerging as UConn’s star has negatively impacted Williams’ performance this season. I personally don’t think that’s the case, but it’s definitely been thrown out into the ether.

I think one of Paige’s most admirable qualities is how much she wants her teammates to do well, which is what, IMO, keeps her well regarded amongst her peers. She would rather get the assist than the bucket and is the first one jumping off the bench when those way down the depth chart score in the waning minutes of the game — the team-first mentality you’re talking about, @creekdipper .

But I’m with you, @Mr. Doo Wop , that I think it’s a little much. Mainly because it’s more about how great Paige is and less about why she’s out there like Atlas with the world on her shoulders. When there are more scorers on the floor next year, tbh, I think there will be posts on the BY bemoaning why her PPG isn’t as high as it is this year.

Uconn fans are very happy with Bueckers production, since the upper classmen are very inconsistent this year. Christyn Williams is experiencing the similar problems that Horston is facing . Scoring is inconsistent but the defense, rebounding, and assists are there. UT fans should be thankful for producing upper classmen. At one game this year, Uconn had 4 freshmen on the floor with a high school kid. Recruit Poffenbarger graduated HS early and joined the Huskies this year. Nevertheless, I think UT and Uconn are S16 teams. Both teams have issues to fix before the tournament. Good luck...

I wish Jordan was comparable to Christyn, who is averaging just over 15 ppg and shooting over 46% from the floor. Christyn has had 3 games all season where she scored below her current average (2 being weird scoreless games). Maybe UConn fans want her to score even more and maybe be a better outside shooter, but she's having an excellent season by any objective measure.

if Jordan was averaging 15 a game and shooting 46 percent we would be close to undefeated no more than a couple of losses.

Not a big fan of "ifs", but this is a true one for sure.

If Rutgers star player played for a better team she’d be the number 1 pick... i’m not a big fan of ifs either but that one is true for sure 🙄

Get off OUR players back we know she is struggling with her shot but she is still OUR player go worry about getting enough games in to possibly make the tourney! The true trolls own their calling you and these subtle jabs are tiresome.

and before you EVEN think about playing the victim card and “i am not the only person getting on her” i’ve spoken out multiple times and i’ve also critiqued her play.

And before you say ignore is an option so is you enjoying another board somewhere else.
