Had a chance to some friends in Hartford CT yesterday looks like UConn is really making a push for this young lady out of NC a 3 star 6-3 post player. I`m always up front with you fans i have never seen her play.

I`m not sure why UConn would target her they have a some good post players coming in and already on the roster OND , Piath Gabriel, and Aaliyah Edwards ?

Add Brady and DeBerry to that list.

I agree with you. Between those two and Edwards, thos are the post players of their future. They already have Gabriel as a reserve with size. Not sure what they would need another one, unless she's trending upwards.

General question for people who know the rules on transfers, since it was mentioned earlier: how soon after a player enters the portal is an interested coach allowed to contact that player? Or is contact only initiated by the player themselves?

  • They must be enrolled full time at the school for the fall 2020 term.
  • It must be the first transfer from a four-year school.
  • The student-athlete must have left their previous school in good standing academically and not facing disciplinary suspension.
  • Both the head coach and the student-athlete must certify that impermissible recruiting did not take place.
I think when the student meets these four eligibility rules and actually puts her name in the portal then contact is allowed by coaches and the player.

UConn's recruiting pitch is improvement comes from practice and to be the best you have to practice against the best.

Maybe so, but I would think that players also like to play. Highly sought after players aren't coming to college to practice. I don't know if she's being recruited by these top schools as a bench depth or a valuable rotation piece, but if it's the latter...I would guess that she'll go somewhere that she can get in the games and play decent minutes.
