Non-Lady Vol Basketball News 2023-24

One of the big blow ups between Pat and Geno came at a restaurant during the NCAAs when Geno and his staff were at dinner. Pat came in with her group and an intoxicated Geno proceeded to yell a**hole comments towards Pat. Embarrassing Pat and others. I’m sure there are long time fans on here who can fill in more of the details on this incident.
The female referee that Geno pinned against a hotel room door said he was drunk. I still wonder how much it cost him to have that lawsuit go away.
So no I haven’t personally been on a pub crawl with him but if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck....
The alleged incident with Pat maybe 20+ years ago and this incident with a security official (not a referee) over 9 years ago where he had alcohol on his breath makes him a drunk?

And all the other times that were reported that a very public person like Geno was reported to be drunk in public.

Oh wait.....

And you know he’s a big drinker how? He is overweight but I’m sure you haven’t seen his medical records.

They know he is a big drinker just like you knew i was “optimistic” about Uconn losing recruits or players ... both seem just as feasible or likely as the other 🙄 them knowing Geno’s drinking habits or you knowing what i’m thinking ... actually that poster probably has the better case

You'd think that as a woman of power, she would think instead of react.
That last line is a challenge and when you challenge the male society, you get war, not credit.
She has undone everything that Sedona Price accomplished in one warlord posting.

Men, especially those in power appreciate tact and tactic, not demands.
And they give you what you expect, not what you want or demand.
By making that challenge in the last sentence, she has taken a bold and tactful move and turned it into a political agenda.

Wrong move.

Demand something from a man and he would rather throw it away than give it to you....Ask for and better yet, work for it and he will recognize growth and often willingly give you more than you asked for.

At least, that is what this man's philosophy is.
Equality is not something a man should give to a woman. It is something human beings should expect and acknowledge regardless of gender or race. In other words it should be the norm. And you coach young ladies. My opinion of you just took a huge nose dive.

I’m watching the men’s tournament and it’s shocking how the refs just let them play and don’t call fouls on every small contact. With the recent revelation about the disparity in resources devoted to women compared to the men—which is blatant sexism—I also believe the women’s game is overly officiated because the powers that be believe women are too fragile and can’t handle contact. Basically I think poor officiating in the women’s game is also due to sexism.

Look at that last line of Muffetts post..."Well times up gentlemen, This generation of women expects more and we won't stop until we get it"

She might as well have taken a pair of gloves and slapped a duel challenge in front of the whole male population with that statement,

I speak of respect, not equality.
I have fought for the advancement of women's sport, ergo, women for over 40 years and will continue to do so.
Respect is earned or given, never forcefully taken.
And when I read a statement like that all I see is the end challenge and disrespect to the men like me who fight for women.

Emotion is a good passenger, not a good driver.
and her post was filled with emotion.
It virtually erased a perfect eye-opener by Sedona Price and made it into a political soapbox.

I am 1000 behind and in support for equality.
But when you make a generalized man-hater statement like that, I have been challenged, not "woke"

You can not imagine how little it means to this woman that men don’t want women demanding something. The days of men throwing women a little something when they ask nicely is hopefully going/gone. For example the powers that be at the NCAA who thought it would be fine to provide facilities and other amenities to the female athletes that are inferior to what the male athletes received should be fired.
I don’t want to speak for other women so I’ll just say for myself that I can not believe in 2021 we are still dealing with this crap. I will demand, I will take I will not demurely ask I will spend my money with organizations that support and achieve equality and will gladly point out and criticize those organizations that don’t. I am just done with this.
I really wish I could find the right words to explain to our good guys on here how absolutely infuriating this is to so many women. I guess I just don’t.

I am with you, Lucy.
I want it to happen now.
There should be no inequality between the sexes, pay/play,,, it should be the same.
Women make up 56% of the world's population,,, yet,,,,this!
It ain't right.

All I was saying is that Sedona did it right, she reported the problem, didn't let emotion factor in and yielded immediate attention and results. Then Muffett took her platform and made it a soapbox and grouped all men in the end-sentences...uncool and ineffective!

I took that jab very personal bc I have fought right along with the women in my own way, by coaching them to a higher standard.

When I sat with Pat Summitt in 1996 as she scouted Auburn, she said, "You know it just ain't right,,,men get the coaches and the girls get uncles and dads"...It was then that I made the decision to be the best coach I could be and be that best coach for those girls that she cared so much about....And I have never regretted my decision

I really don't give a damn if you or any other man feels challenged because women are starting to demand equal treatment. Women have been asking for the better part of this countries existence and yet here we are in 2021 dealing with the same old crap. This has nothing to do with man-hating. For the most part women do not hate men at least not to the extent that some men hate women. Women want and are starting to demand equality. Get use to it.

Thanks for the further clarity coach. I have no doubt that you are 100% dedicated to ensuring the young women you coach have every opportunity to succeed both on the court and in life.

Not interested in quarreling with you on this.
I am behind equality with no exception

Not interested in quarreling with you either. Your first post I responded to did not sound like you supported equality. You say you do so I accept your word that you do. Thanks for the clarification.

Maybe try speaking of equality, not demanding respect of female greats seeking change. it is not a woman’s job to convince you; it is your job to seek education on the matter. Do you expect Black people to educate you on racism? Or do you think you owe it to them after 400 years of oppression to do some of the work yourself?

Seems like a pretty significant place of privilege you speaking from and reflexively trying to protect . This is a board of people who follow and support female, mostly Black, often gay, and even occasionally trans athletes. You are one of their biggest supporters. I think we would all hope that you stand for the athletes you endorse and not the history of the Tennessee patriarchy.

A word. Well stated.🧡

Anyone with even a sniff of a family member or themselves that drink can see Geno is a drinker. Pat had her drinks as most do, but she never looked like an alcoholic. Geno screams that. Hell I got good genes at 38 but I over drink myself and can see it on occasion. Anyone at 60 plus can't hide it. Even if is, so what? He clearly does his job better than anyone else has. At least X's and O's.

And how does he look like an alcoholic? That is a serious disease that I have had family members deal with.

It’s not just the players leaving Miss. State ......

“ Austin Peay has hired Brittany Young as women’s coach. Young arrives in Clarksville after a season as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Mississippi State . “

Talking about deserting a sinking ship ! 😱
Brittany has been with Nikki since she was a grad asst at SC. It was time for her to get a head coaching opportunity. Dont think she was bailing.

Men’s philosophy absolutely sucks. what they are afraid of is giving up just a tiny piece of power. I won’t live to see the day when they don’t have it all, but the women of today will. And I assure you these women speaking out aren’t afraid. They have learned you can’t just sit back and hope men do what’s right. We have seen that’s just not going to happen.
