Non-Lady Vol Basketball News 2023-24

So you are saying we regressed at the end of the season instead of getting better 🤷‍♀️
Exactly where did I say that. We won three of our last four conference games and 1 and 1 in the NCAA. Certainly not what we wanted certainly didn't regress.

She did put her in a couple of times and she didn’t bring any energy. She missed 5 layups and took an ill advised 3 when she was cold right off the bench. Only played 9 minutes and was 0-6. She came back out because she wasn’t the player they needed shooting the ball.

Angel has a lot of promise, but Diamond and Mimi are the better players right now. Angel was just flinging the ball at the basket and grabbing the offensive rebound hoping to make an ugly layup or get fouled...and she did neither.

My plan would have been to pay what it took to get the best coach. A coach who had a history of winning and had been to the final 4. A coach who could recruit the best. Kellie has done none of that. She just hasn’t. I was pleasantly surprised by the UCONN result, but did we win??? No one cares about close loses. It’s about wins!
Ideally, yes. I think in the end, Kellie will be fine as long as she picks up her recruiting. She is definitely a more capable court coach than Holly, but nowhere close in recruiting. The class of '22 and '23 will be make or break for her once the last of Holly's recruits leave.

I don't know if any of the upper echelon of coaches was contacted for the job or if they had very specific criteria (i.e. female, from CPS' coaching tree), but they could have done a helluva lot worse than Kellie.

Texas vs SC should be an interesting match up as Vic and Dawn know a lot about each other's tendencies and style of play. Texas is coming off an emotionally daining win and it will be interesting to see how they respond. They played just 6 players with their short bench contributing only a single point. Texas gives up an average of 62 points per game while SC gives up 53 points per game. SC will try and run on them and score in transition but it could easily turn into a half court game. I see that many Vol fans don't pull for SC while our fans tend to pull for any SEC team that can bring another championship to our conference. I enjoy this forum as folks here are knowledgeable and keep up with WBB. Visit our forum and it's a different story.

Texas gives up a little over 62 points per game while SC gives up slightly over 53 points.
Your point?

I was talking about how Texas is playing now, not over the full season.

Maryland had a high powered offense and was held down by Texas, South Carolina is not as high a powered offense. That was my point.

I do expect South Carolina to win this game.

This is what i have said all year long. You much have someone in the lane to protect the rim. Not sure what Freese`s was thinking.
Going small against Charli Collier definitely wasn’t a shining moment for her as a coach.

She also Beat IU and SC who are still playing. Guess that detail didn’t fit your narrative.

My guess is that Texas runs out of gas they have been over achieving. Hope not but I can see them taking it on the chin in the next game. Arizona vs. Indiana no clear favorite just whomever gets hot from the three. If Indiana is hitting they can run anybody out of the gym. Baylor vs UConn is a tossup as well who comes to play and who steps up and makes the big plays. Louisville vs Stanford seems to be a Stanford win if they continue to shoot the three. Oregon completely lost their stroke looked like Tennessee shooting the three.

The Baylor UConn winner huge favorite to make the title game. Stanford vs SC would be a great game to watch. Lots of great action coming for sure.

Dunno. Who were they speculating...Johnnie Harris?

That was the last I heard but I think it might be Tina Langley. Rice was still playing until yesterday.

Thought Langley might be headed to Wisconsin but they hired Marissa Moseley the other day.

Have heard on here that Harris and Langley were likely going to be P5 coaches but I don’t know how accurate that info is. The openings right now are Washington and Auburn.
