Non-Lady Vol Basketball News 2024-25

I don't have a huge problem with Van Lith. 20+ ppg and 43% shooting isn't terrible. But there are probably better options out there...just can't name them off the top of my head.

Fudd makes zero sense if only because she missed so much of the season.

In addition to NPOY, I think this is the list that will also determine the All-American Teams (last 10 players standing).

You can play your way onto the list. Also, the list will eventually be pared down to 10, which will represent the All American Team (replaces Kodak and then WBCA team).

Right now, I think it's a given that the following players will be on it:
1. Aliyah Boston
2. Caitlin Clark
3. Haley Jones
4. Cameron Brink
5. Zia Cooke
6. Elizabeth Kitley
7. Angel Reese

Deep pool for the last three spots. I think Aliyah Edwards, Mackenzie Holmes, Taylor Mikesell, Olivia Miles and Maddy Siegrist are the front runners. Not sure I see anyone new breaking the list when they pare it down to the top 15.
Wooden Top 20 List released today. The 5 players that were removed from the top 25 list are: Azzi Fudd (UConn), Jordan Horston (Tenn), Emily Kiser (Michigan), Taylor Mikesell (Ohio St), Maddy Williams (OU)

I think Van Lith has a lesser argument to stay on the list compared to any of the exclusions not named Azzi Fudd.

Why is Deja Kelly in the final 20?

Back to the Wooden awards and subsequent AA titles, who do you guys and gals think deserves that status from the SEC this year?

I’ll say this, outside of the SEC, you have to include Brink, Clark, the girl from Villanova, Jones from Stanford, Kittley maybe, and I would include the freshman guard from FSU probably, I don’t discriminate on class. Edwards from Uconn also…..and lastly, McKenzie Holmes from IU, she is playing like the NPOY right now imo.

So far it’s Reese.

I love Boston but the depth of SC has actually hurt her a bit individually. Speaks to the caliber of her character to sacrifice a bit for the team. I think she will come alive a bit more down the stretch.

Jackson should be an AA along with Cooke, Horston, Baker, and Boston.

Watch her (Boston) in the big games and the tourney games….she will surface. I think she is worthy number #1 WNBA pick…..most agree.

Some have posted on these threads there are rumors Boston will come back for one more…..I don’t see that. I’m not close to anyone in the program, so I have no idea to be honest, But she is the best player in NCAAW BB right now….I mean if we are all throwing a bat in a field to pick teams, anyone that wins that bat toss would look around and take Boston first, she is that good.

She will be a super star in the WNBA. She has been grooming and training herself to be a WNBA player since she was 14. The big college games left in her career are her showcases. And she will show why she is still the queen in WBB. She impacts every phase of the game, in the strongest way possible in all phases. Who would you really pick before her to build your team?

Don’t bet against the reigning NPOY and NDPOY title holder. This girl is elite on both sides of the ball and she can match down low with any WNBA player now….

Providence within 10 of Uconn tonight…..What happened to Edwards? Connies got 1 point from bench vs Providence….

Doesn't seem like they have a bench but not surprising with all those injuries. DeBerry seems like a great kid but probably not close to the recruiting hype coming out of HS. I was kinda expecting Patterson for someone so highly recruited would be contributing more given the lack of depth but she gets minutes sparingly.

They miss like everyone sometimes, the ones you mentioned are not misses yet, just questions, and for Uconn, questions do not last long usually

Parity is in play, there are a few teams that are likely above the Frey, but I am not sure how many are real players yet,,,It will be fun to see which teams make a move though, UT fans should pay attention here imo

I watched the game. Edwards was in foul trouble early. Their offense was sluggish and the starters looked really tired. The bench players continue to contribute nothing. Biggest disappointment from the bench is DeBerry. She is 6'5" but she seems to have no drive and when she gets in the game she seldom has an impact.

I'm sorry, but Patterson just doesn't finish and is a foul waiting to happen. I will wait to see her develop in the future as she is only a freshman.
