Non-Lady Vol Basketball News 2024-25

To me, it looked like Ol Miss played zone and really packed it in. I don’t think we play zone much. Our strength on offense is inside to about 12 feet which is SC strength. They will probably have someone closely guarding Darby preventing her getting the ball or bothering her shot. But SC is beatable and we are capable so we will see.

We played zone some yesterday to prepare for South Carolina. Played more zone against Auburn than we have most of the season. Don’t think that was an accident.

We played zone in the second quarter because Auburn scored 24 points in the first quarter. I don't think it had anything to do with playing South Carolina on Thursday.

I hope we can play half as well as Ole Miss played today. They had that chance to win all you can ask for.

I give Ole Miss credit they had a game plan and stuck to it get pack it end. Also there guards played outstanding. Baker, Taylor. Also 6-4 Amihere is Dawns dog house right now for poor play on both ends and bad decision making. And to note 6-4 transfer portal center Rita Igbokwe was a very good pickup for Ole Miss.

Yep they did and that is exactly what UCLA did as well for 40 minutes earlier in the season and they also had them on the ropes. Let's face it, every time we went to a man to man defense yesterday, Auburn went on a run. S.C has 3 level scorers all over the court. Our zone has very long and lengthy players on the perimeter. It can be more effective than a man defense and takes away the driving lanes. Not sure why Kellie doesn't play it more or better yet, use that zone that Auburn did back in the 90's. Kellie was an assistant to coach Ciampi and said it was one of the toughest defenses to play against as a player and has also said she has that defense in her back pocket. Coach Sam also played in Coach Ciampi's system for 4 years and would know it. When you hate playing against a defense, generally it is a pretty effective defense. J.S.

How is Aliyah Boston being even considered for national player of the year when she is only average 13 points a game?

Best player on The best team usually gets considered. Previous year’s winner is also usually considered. She won’t win this year. The gunner on a team with no defense will get it.

Yet her stats aren't as good as Cooks this year on that same team. They both play 25 minutes per game. Clark with 27 points a game and 8 assist per game equals about 43 points per game that she has been producing by either scoring or getting her teammates in the right position to score and then as a guard she is pulling down 7.5 rebounds and leading her team in every major statical category.

glv98 only 10 points in the first half terrible shooters 1-15 after 3 and the misses were way off. a&m was projected third in the SEC this year. the team and coach look and play like they hope the season gets over quickl

Daily reminder that the SEC sucks from ESPN:

STRUGGLING SEC

The conference has two of the top five teams in South Carolina and LSU, but no other school is ranked. With three polls left in the season, the SEC is in danger of not having at least three teams ranked in the final AP Top 25 for the first time since the 1980-81 season, when the conference had only two.

Sometimes the grass is not greener on the other side. Joni should've stayed at GA. Perhaps, she will turn it around next season.

I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure Joni got a substantial, probably life-changing salary increase by taking the A&M job, so I can't blame her for jumping on that.

The one I'm wondering about lately is Gary Blair, whom I suspect may have been hurt by the way he was kinda (IMO) pushed out at least a year or two before he may have originally wanted to retire. Even in Blair's last season I don't think their record was this bad.

SC's game with Uga on Sunday is now a sell out. It's also senior day for the best class in our history.

Is it possible Boston returns for her covid year? Her NIL income exceeds what she'd make in the WNBA.

I think she is focused on the WNBA tbh.
