Non-Lady Vol Basketball News 2024-25

First of all, not everybody who posts on another team’s board is a troll. Secondly, and I cannot speak for anyone other than myself, it is always good to have a different perspective on something as subjective as sports. The same can be said of politics. If you just look at everything through dark blue tinted glasses or rocky top orange tinted glasses you might get a slightly altered understanding of reality. If you want an example of this you don’t have to look any farther than ESPN. It is repeated ad nauseam on Volnation how ESPN panders to the University of Connecticut, while on the UConn board they are very upset with ESPN for their disrespect of the Huskies. And, don’t even get me started on the topic of referee calls. I have been reading this board for many years and other than rare exceptions I do not remember instances of rampant disrespect from UConn fans toward this board. I can also say, I have absolutely not seen disrespect from Tennessee fans who visit the UConn site. But, what good would athletic rivalries be without a few irrational non-objective individuals?
I hear you, but the person I responded to is legitimately trolling though.

The Big East hate is so tired. We saw two ranked teams in the SEC majority of the year, one of whom is only there because they had an SOS worse than 8 BE schools . I’d bet that Creighton, Marquette and Nova could take on most P5 schools, as seen with Creighton beating 3 of them in last year’s tourney.
Just go by the NET conference rankings where the SEC is third and the Big East is sixth. I will say however that the Big East as a conference was better this season that it has been in years.

I try to be as respectful as possible. Nothing wrong with a little heated discussion. I’ve actually been a supporter of the Lady Vols since the Jaime Nared/Mercedes Russell/DeShields era. Some fans, however, can be really nasty toward some of the UConn women and Geno especially, which is what I dislike. Calling them names and wishing harm on them is completely unnecessary.

It makes sense, as the “Power 5” likely takes the first 5 spots? The Big East hasn‘t been ultra-competitive since the days of Louisville and Notre Dame, which is out of UConn‘s control.

Hilarious coming from a UConn fan. Many moons ago I tried to be a civil participant on the Boneyard but was harangued every step of the way and eventually blocked for no reason other than being a UT fan.

GTFO for all I’m concerned.

I honestly just post nonsense when I talk to you Connie’s just to jack with you and waste your time. I don’t give two sh**s about your opinion, your team or your coach.

They’re not any better, they simply got more media exposure. Same thing used to happen in the AAC when UConn was there. If you were seeing some of those other mid major schools play on a regular basis you’d think they were pretty good as well.

It’s tough to judge the quality of a team when they are playing like opponents.

To be fair, some of the people on here are pretty nasty to the Tennessee young women, and they are supposedly fans of theirs. One of the problems of keyboard warriors is people are safe to say and do what they please because they don’t have to look at the people they’re talking to therefore relieving them of any obligation to be civil. However, I pick and choose who I respond to, as civil discourse is one thing but hateful rhetoric is something completely different. I just ignore those that I feel would not engage in realistic civil discourse. Debate on sports topics are meant as a enjoyable distraction, however, some people are just so miserable that there’s no reason to even hold a conversation. As I alluded in my original post, debating a topic on an opponent’s message board really lets you know if your argument holds water because you have to defend it while being vastly outnumbered where the majority of the base has extreme biases. But, as you said, there’s nothing wrong with a little bit of heated debate. I wholeheartedly agree with you on how horrible it is to wish horrible things happening to young college athletes.

Are you that naive or is it the hate you have for them blinding common sense? If they are cleared to play by the doctors, the player decides when they are ready. It's the same with any top, or not top program, including the LVs. If any of the injured Huskies just didn't come back, they would have had to pack in the season. BTW, Paige tore up her knee in a pick-up game with teammates in August, not last year. That injury had nothing to do with her injury last year.
Cleared or not cleared if Ducharme were my kid she would not be playing or practicing. I would think UConn fans would want to see that situation dealt with in a very conservative fashion. Brains versus knees are not even comparable.

Yes. You get one brain and it is NOT replaceable. You mess that thing up and you’re toast for the rest of your life.

You are correct - the player must pass the baseline tests. If they do they are cleared to play. That doesn't mean the coach must play them. The player has a say but so does the coach. Do you really think a coach HAS to play a player? With what we know about CTE Caroline and her family should be concerned (that's their business) . Since she's had multiple concussions she is way more susceptible to them going forward. I think more people than not would question if playing her after all the hits she's had is the right thing. I wouldn't have thought much about her concussion issues until the game where she went down and when she got back up she was obviously not stable. It appeared to me she had signs of a concussion. Yet Geno put her back in later in the game. That leads me to question his judgement. Last season in the NFL we saw what happened to Tua. There is en obvious reason for concern.

Yes lol. Write that one up.
I corrected it, Toledo then Nova…..good path imo. I would actually think UT could be favored over Nova. And of all the 1 seeds, VT is the one you want, UT can beat them. I know everyone wants the 4 seed to host two games, and would also prefer the Greenville Regional, but the current bracket would be a nice draw to advance deep.

Never seen anyone wish harm on them. We want them to loose, that's not wishing harm.

Nova is and has been overrated all season, ranking them in the top 10 was pure foolishness. They haven’t won a game against anyone this year, their best win is probably vs Princeton, let that sink in. What an inflated ranking they carry. If my team was a 5 seed, that would be the 4 seed I would hope to be matched up with.

Yeah it’s crazy talk to mention them in the same breath as other top 10 teams. Won’t be shocked at all to see them make a first round exit. They are so one dimensional. Siegrist is an excellent player but she has no supporting cast. You take her out of the game even a little bit and they are toast.

They’re aren’t unlike Tennessee actually but they are minus a Horston. They have their Jackson but that’s all they’ve got. Stop her or get her in foul trouble and it’s all but over.

Post #26,387 from Darth_Vol: “Keep in mind this is the same person who wished Geno would pass away peacefully in his sleep after UConn beat Tennessee this season...”

I’ve also read worse.
