Non-Lady Vol Basketball News 2024-25

I want a small one. I’ve been saying for a while I’d like a Shannon Bobbitt 2.0. Here is our chance….

With all the other size we have we are gonna have to have someone small and speedy who can check quick guards.

Our foot speed might be our biggest issue next season.

I do think we need a couple 5’10”-6’ guards who can shoot out of the portal. I’d look mid-major for those like ole miss did. We have lots of forwards coming back, especially if Marta returns.

Unless they predict Miles to make a huge jump I still think we are deficient at PG and am not willing to put all our eggs in Powells basket at this point. She is a solid player but didn’t settle in this season.

Walker is a good pg but will have problems dealing with some of the other top pg is the SEC due to her lack of size. Don't get me wrong she had a good year for KY down the stretch put like i said you have Powell and Miles already. To me TN need a SG to replace Horston i don`t think you can count on Wynn or Darby being that replacement.

The 2 games against us she averaged 11 points, 4 assists, and 3.5 rebounds. Her season numbers at 12.9 point, 3.1 assists per game and 81% free throw percentage look pretty good. She is also a decent 3-point shooter, a coach's kid, and a lefty not to mention she just had a refusal to quit, play hard all the time attitude. She showed that as a freshman as well. 2 years as a starting point guard in the SEC. She would be a great pickup.

I think SG and W is a more pressing needs right now for TN Horston and Jackson but if you can get Walker good get.

I still haven't ruled out Horston and/or Jackson coming back...but assuming they don't, I could imagine a starting lineup of something like Key, Hollingshead, Pissott, Darby, and Powell. Having shooters like Darby and Pissott (assuming she makes a sophomore leap and lives up to her HS All-American status), plus Hollingshead who has such a pretty midrange shot, could allow more space for Key in the paint AND for Powell to create to score or kick out to shooters (including Striplin and Puckett as first off the bench or starting themselves).

I'm not sure Powell fits the best with Horston and Jackson, who are both best creating and scoring in the paint (along with Jackson's midrange game), not to mention you had Key in the paint at the beginning of the season, too. Too many players occupying the same space. I didn't watch Powell play at Minnesota, but I wonder if she would be more comfortable as the primary creator.

That said, if Horston and/or Jackson do come back, maybe having a point guard who's a better 3-point shooter is more important to give us better spacing around Horston, Jackson, and Key. Jada Walker isn't elite at 33.3% this season, but that's certainly better than Powell's 22.4% this year (then again, she shot 35.2% from 3 her 2nd year at Minnesota, so maybe she can get back to that level).

I do think some 3-and-D type players would be great additions...like what Sam Thomas brought to Arizona's Final Four run a few years ago (38.6% from 3, 2.3 steals, and 1.2 blocks as a 6' wing).

Just what I read here from the other fans. I don’t waste my time on UConn. Not a fan, never will be. Geno is a turd that won’t flush and their fan base is 12 year old girls with braces and rage.
Sorry to hear about your turd and puking problems, but they do have meds that will help.
Your research regarding thousands of 12 year old girls speaks volumes…conclusions about age, dentistry, and even psychological characteristics. Finding the time to learn the fan base must be easier when you only get info from “just what I read here”.

Yet again, so sensitive. You’re all the same 🤣

Thanks for recognizing my sensitivity.
All snark, hatred, rivalry, good/bad history, ad nauseum (puking) aside - and once and for all- I wish the LVs nothing less than a deep run in the Dance. Will root for you (even you !) til the last minute of at least your 5th straight w in the tournament. Unable to commit to cheering Tennessee in a possible NC game…depends on the opponen🙁 Oh, and the turd problem….keep jiggling the handle.

Jiggle enough and maybe all y’all will flush too.

Oklahoma state trying to get back in it. West Virginia defensive intensity was great in the first half. They have to get back to that.

Oklahoma state was turning the ball over bad in the first half as well. Taking better care of it so far to start the third.

What a finish! OSU likely just won it at the buzzer. Took their first lead of the game at the buzzer. What a tough, well coached, team.

My heart breaks for West Virginia. They played their heart out and looked like they might run away with it a couple times. Quinerly hurt her ankle and tried to play through but finally had to come out.

…and the reasoning for not having all the tournaments finish up on the same weekend becomes a little clearer.

Reply fail: sorry volball

A great plan. Keep jiggling. And after finishing you can get back to your study of 12 year-old girls with braces and bad attitudes. So many await your latest findings. Enlightenment may help everyone better understand the sport of basketball. Go

So are you here to talk basketball or just here to talk sh**? Because if it’s the latter, feel free to see yourself out.
