Non-Lady Vol Basketball News 2024-25

Lol married 35 and 3 daughters. I was referring to the sports fan/ armchair coach type. Also that’s why we hear from so many when our girls play poorly and few when they play well. Y’all know what I mean. All good.

Just curious. Why do you feel there is a difference in acceptable behavior regarding public highly critical comments toward college athletes than toward those you personally love? Are you forgetting these young people who might be strangers to you are also some family's sweet and precious and highly sensitive pride and joy? Or does that just not register with you?

Do, Freaking. Better.

UCLA post Amanda Muse has some nice footwork in the paint. She seems to be the most skilled big in the game. Good hands, too.

The IG famous Williams girl with the blonde braid has some nice handles and can create her own shot pretty easily
Muse was awesome, agree she was best post in the game.

High school all-star games are going to be dominated by guards. Breanna Stewart was an exception in her Mickey D game because she could step out. There was actually a lot of intensity, and frankly, what looked like some budding rivalries forged in the camps, AAU circuit etc. KK Arnold and Hannah Hilgada are going to be going at each other for a while. Ju Ju Watkins is smooth and the girl going to LSU (Williams?) could be a big factor.

New here so not trying to cause drama. Not sure how you read my post but I was commenting on why fans come on here and hammer our players when things go bad or wrong but are silent when they win. I said it’s human nature from the armchair fan or couch coach. I never once said that’s what I do or believe. I have a 17 year coaching background in girls high school basketball. I have done better.

I really liked Dawn's answer when asked for the billionth time about any of her seniors returning. She said her main job is to make them draftable, and she believes they all are. Then she gives them all the info she can about the process, etc. Then she gets out of the way. Says not her place to try to influence in any way. Says she recruits and plans for the future as if they're all gone. They know she loves them.

Pretty strong.

Problem is, she probably won't see the floor next year and if Bueckers decides to stay 2 or 3 years, she may not see the floor until she is a junior or senior.
Depends how good UConn is next season. If they pull together a season like SC did this year, then everyone will play...assuming they are up to Geno's standards.

Not if Geno continues with the "I don't like how our team looks" without certain players on the court. This year was a year of desperation for him. Not the norm.

Hence my comment about "Geno's standards". I do think that the guards come in out of HS more game-ready than the posts do. If he had Shade this year, you can bet she would have been playing.

Yes they do, but how many other guards saw significant playing time when sue or Diana or Maya were playing? They didn't. He has been coaching the same way for 30 years. Those two highly ranked guards he is bringing in will be practice players and will have no option but to like it if Uconn has a healthy Azzi Fudd and Paige Bueckers.

They will be understudies as they should be. Not many are plug in and play their first year in college. Paige and Nika are gone after next season. Connies will be just fine and we will continue to talk about them.

Paige has talked about playing 2-3 more years (she's making millions with NIL endorsements) and Nika should have a covid year. Then you have Azzi to boot. There is no room for freshman unless they want to wait 2-3 years for significant playing time. Maybe they do.

I think we ALL are making assumptions. Should they not recruit freshmen?

Paige can talk all she wants. Serious doubts about her durability at this point. That NIL money will disappear rapidly if she misses more playing time. Gatorade already has to be disappointed with their ROI.

Her millions of social media followers would probably disagree with that with her playing or sitting the bench at this point. They all want to know whats happening next which keeps her relevent. Why do you think Gatorade gave her that kind of money. For basketball only?

The surprise for me is how many would choose Geno. I don't know anything abut the poll but if this poll truly reflects player's feelings even to some degree it doesn't bode well.
Geno is an 11-time NC winner. Why would you be surprised?

Nothing on this list is surprising. SC is the flavor of the week, so Dawn is #1. Then you get your usual suspect big name or big program coaches. If another team steps up and dominates next season, Dawn’s votes will probably evaporate.
