Maybe Kim has a spare banner she can let go of for Dawn?
That was funny some time ago Gule, and this is not a retort, but the banner you love to reply on was one from a season cancelled where the team was unanimously ranked #1, and it claims no championship, it merely claims #1 ranked for a year aborted. Have at it friend and continue on.

.Find a bone of originality if you can. and if you could honestly say that if the LV’s had been #1 in final rankings for a stupid year aborted just before the NCAA tourney and they put a banner up in TBA saying #1 ranked team in nation for a year with no championship how would that sit with you? It claimed fact, it was an accomplishment, and it made no false claims, just a marker for an excellent season of work. You would have had no issue if it was a marker raised to acknowledge an accomplishment for your team, that’s all It was, an acknowledgement to a season of hard earned recognition of a top ranking.

But go on being unoriginal and playing your game.

I personally have a problem with a banner for poll rankings. No school has ever hung a banner for ending the season ranked number one, regardless if it was unanimous, or if it was wire to wire. Those are basically opinion polls voted on by members of the press or coaches. You would never see Tennessee do that. You would never see UConn do that. The overall number one seed wins the actual NCAA national championship less than half the time, (with men only 3 of last 11). In my opinion only a program desperate for acknowledgment would even consider doing something like that.

Why not hang up a banner for being number one in the net rankings, or hang up a banner for being number one in the strength of schedule, or any number of other polls and rankings? On the men’s side, Dayton will probably never have a chance to be a number one seed again, and they did not attempt to gain some false accomplishment. Covid was just an unfortunate situation. There is no actual place in sports for could have, should have, would have, only DID.

I guess SC can hang a banner this year saying they beat the eventual national champion, and UConn can make the same claim from six years ago. However, the ONLY thing that matters pertaining to banners is winning championships, (or retiring numbers), anything else is just pathetic grandstanding.

What a bizarre and arrogant statement.
2022- Paterson-USA
Brady- USA
Bettencourt- Portugal- Brought in on first day of classes by luck after injuries started to happen
Lopez Senechal-France technically, but spent four years at Fairfield University and acquired through the American Portal.
2023- Shade- USA
Samuels- USA
El Alfy- Egypt
Arnold- USA
2024- Cheli-USA
Ziebell- USA

I don't think Geno has given up on American girls, but an International touch is very intriguing if they can fill a need.

Quick early prediction for 2023-24 SEC season.

No surprises, LSU at 1, three way race between UT, OM and SC for 2-4, probably a surprise 5 team in aTm, just a hunch. No feel for UGA next season, but worth a thought at 5.

Miss St will be top 5 if not in the top 4 next year they’re bringing in some good talent.

It would be if he said it. What he has said is that there are not many girls who can play at UConn. It's not a question of ability but of attitude. I'm sure the same thing is true for Kellie, Dawn, Nell Ivey and several others. The first thing top coaches look at is academic performance because they want people who have the trait of applying themselves in all areas of their lives. Next is their attitude towards their teammates. i.e., are they joyful when their teammates succeed and do they cheer for other players when on the bench. Then thirdly comes ability. Geno's comment concerned the first two arenas.

I hope the LV's will never stoop that low and hang a banner stating they were ranked #1 at some point during a season. I think LSU with Mulkey will not need to hang banners like that again.
