Non-Lady Vol Basketball News 2024-25

So far, Vandy and Kentucky have exceeded the preseason media poll. Vandy was picked to finish 10th but is now tied for 5th place with Ole Miss. Kentucky was picked 8th and is in a 3-way tie for second place with LSU & Texas.

Is Brooks the early favorite for SEC COY? Or should it be Ralph or someone else? Curious what others think about league coaching and expectations moving forward.
If Kentucky can beat Oklahoma in their next game then he may be on his way to COY. If they lose that one with LSU, SC, Texas, and Tennessee to play he and Kentucky have their work cut out for them. Oklahoma would be their second loss and then I suspect they will lose three of that four so 5 SEC losses and they still have Ole Miss to deal with. That loss to Texas A&M set them back some so with their second half schedule still a lot to be determined. Same for Vandy they have to deal with a lot tougher in the second half of the season.

Brooks and his team are about to hit the pavement hard. Look at their schedule coming up, that ship is about to take some torpedo hits.

Kentucky gets a lot of crap on this board but I consider them a credible threat. The PG is deliberate, heady and poised. They have size, rebounding and 3-point shooting. They are a team you have to beat, unlike our team that makes so many errors we often beat ourselves.

I consider them a talented team and if they can get through that second half by winning a couple of those big games they have left they will have done a great job this SEC season. Beating Alabama was a good win for them see how they do at Oklahoma as they need that one if they are going to finish in the top four in the league.

Kentucky lacks grit and depth.
That game I watched them play against North Carolina was a bad loss.
They really didn’t look competitive in that game.
Until I’ve seen them consistently compete night in and night I believe they’re a vulnerable team.

Yes to both. I posted the remaining scheds in the News thread and KY's is about to bite. OTOH, I was surprised how good they looked against ALA last night. I can't help but root for Baby Key a little bit.

KY plays OK Sunday and if they win OK is pretty much cooked for the 4th spot and KY gets a big leg up. Then they have a week off before playing Ole Miss and Texas. If KY wins two of those three they'll pretty much lock up 4th.
